Long post alert - I was introduced to djing in 1996 on 2 Gemini BD - 50s and a 2 channel scratch master mixer by my close Polish friend, DJ Ostasz. We played parties and skateboarding contests in the southeast before traveling to Europe the summer of 97. We went to a Panasonic store in downtown Warsaw and upgraded to Technics 1200s. When I came back to the states, I didnβt have my own gear, but I planned to get back on the decks asap. Life came at me so many ways that I didnβt have my own setup again until 2009 when bought a Numark NS6 controller / 4 channel mixer. That was the centerpiece of some early breakbeat shows I hosted in Miami, FL. Next, I invested in a CDJ 2000 to adapt my skills to the industry standard player. I regularly mixed in tracks from the CDJ with tracks from the controller. About a year later, I bought an open box buy CDJ 2000 Nexus for 1600 bucks and a DJM 900. I played shows, private events, and rented my gear to other DJs and promoters. 3 years later, I sold the 1st gen cdj2k and upgraded to a cdj 2000 NXS2. This setup carried me until 2020 and the world shut down. DJ equipment production stopped and demand skyrocketed. I moved to Colorado and sold my CDJ Nexus for 400 bucks more than I bought it for, 10 years later! Next up was a CDJ 3000 and I still had my NXS2. I used those the last 3 years and now Iβve added another CDJ 3000. For the first time in my DJ career, I have 2 matching CDJs of my own that are the current industry standard. Playing on one older and one newer player never caused me any problems. In fact, my setups have been used for shows, massive parties, festivals, and performed on by 100s of artists from around the globe in so many different genres. All of my gear has paid for itself 10 times over, allowed me to upgrade, and provided so many amazing experiences. Iβm proud to invest in new technology and share it with the world π πβ€οΈ
