Good morning my fellow Americans.
For some, it is a dark day, and dark times ahead. For others, it’s a day of celebration. I wake up this morning feeling a little more worn, a little older, and a little more jaded. However, this is not the end. This is not the time to lay down and turn a blind eye. This is a call to action for anyone who wakes up today feeling like less of a human being, like your friends and family voted against YOU….
We will go on.
We will continue to fight for the rights of those who cannot fight for themselves now. We will continue to make pushes toward equality and dignity even as everyone else takes 100 steps back. We will continue to fight and die for what is right and what is fair. We will persevere because that’s what we do. We will see the dividing line and walk over it because we have done it before.
WE HAVE DONE IT BEFORE, WE CAN DO IT AGAIN.
For my LGBTQ+ friends and family, I hear you. Today I hear you louder than ever before. Keep being loud, that’s how the other side won this time. Be loud, be proud, never stop being who you are. The fight isn’t over, because it’s never over. Now’s the time to be strong, to show our children that the world can be a cruel place that we will always have to fight for. To show our loved ones we do care for them and their wellbeing.
To my Republican friends. Congratulations. I mean that sincerely. You have your right to your opinion same as everyone else does. Enjoy this victory because you too will be fighting. Just be aware that you will have people who no longer consider you a friend, who view you as a threat to their safety and their children. Who will hate you for being who you are and supporting who you want to support. It’s funny how we take so much time to fight about our differences that we can’t see the common ground we share. You need to be aware that you are about to suffer losses that you will never recover from. And no, it shouldn’t be that way, but here we are.
My fellow Americans. Today is a new day with new possibilities and new battles to fight. This has been a tumultuous time in our history, and it’s going to remain that way for the time being. Urge everyone today to find a common ground. To find something to smile about and not stress over. To remember that life is short and we need to live every moment while it’s our last because for some of us it very well might be.
WE HAVE BEEN HERE BEFORE, WE WILL BE HERE AGAIN, AND WE WILL PERSEVERE BECAUSE THAT IS AMERICA. THIS IS AMERICA.
