A new bill has been proposed by Senators Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) that would increase Social Security benefits by $2,400 a year. This bill would also fully fund Social Security through the year 2096. The founders of this bill state this bill would not raise taxes for over 93 percent of American households. (source)….. With inflation expected to continue to rise of course the $2400 raise is much needed. More importantly is funding the Social Security Trust Fund which is expected to be drained in 2037. Do not forget if the Government reaches it Dept Ceiling the first funds that will be used to pay the debt is the Social Security Fund. The Republicans have the majority. Time to show where they stand on this issue. I would encourage you to contact your Congressman to support this legislation.
