It all started in 1946 when Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant, Dwarf Grill (later re-named Dwarf House), in Hapeville, Georgia. Within just 20 years, he'd already founded Chick-fil-A®, invented the Original Chicken Sandwich and opened the very first in-mall restaurant. As the company and its tasty menu expanded, Truett and Jeannette Cathy's mission became clear. Their goal was to serve fres
h and delicious food, promote community connections and enrich the lives of everyone who interacts with Chick-fil-A. Chick-fil-A deepened its community connection in the 90s by launching the "Eat Mor Chikin®" Cow Campaign and increasing its involvement in collegiate athletics. Today Chick-fil-A maintains its commitment to college football with the sponsorship of the Chick-fil-A Bowl™ and Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. Dan Cathy became President in 2001 and continues to strengthen Chick-fil-A's heartfelt hospitality and exceptional dining experiences. After 43 years of positive sales growth, it's now one of the largest privately-held restaurant chains with over 1,500 restaurants in 39 states and sales over $3.58 billion.
