I couldn’t even fit all of our 2024 couples in this post, but daaaamn it was an amazing year!! ⭐️ 🥂

We grew the Hive team a LOT this year so we got to serve even more couples with my insanely talented photographers!

We captured love in 3 states and 6 countries!

I’ve worked a lot to create resources for elopement photographers to show them how they can gain freedom in their work!

My intention with this year was celebrate the wins (big and small), create adventurous experiences for my couples, soak in the memories, and leave the world better than I found it!

To say I feel blessed looking back on 2024 is an understatement! I love everyone who has made this dream possible!

What is the most true and beautiful version of your life that you can dream up?

Our whole lives we are asked what the goal is. Is the goal to be an elopement photographer? To run a marathon? To get a master’s degree? This goal oriented mentality has major problems. We’ve all faced them, but what if there was a better way to achieve your dreams and BE who you want to be? That is because I am DOING IT and I am excited to share my methods to make YOU successful!

☝️ It’s not about hyper fixating on the goal. It’s about tiny, daily habits. Focus on small habits, not the traditional goal. Habits are what you do every day to shape you into the person you want to be. Create daily habits that help you automatically be more successful.

✌🏻 Now, ask yourself “who is the type of person who could run a successful business?” Successful CEO’s of any company know to prioritize the important work in the morning, they delegate tasks (ahem, editing, culling, copy writing, etc), and they set themselves up for success through their systems.

🤙🏻I focus on “who I want to be” first and then create actionable habits and systems to make it happen! I call this the Summit Vision System! I set the vision of who I want to be and then build out my yearly tasks from there!

Halsey & Brenton’s Sedona elopement was everythinggg dreams are made of and MORE! 🧡✨

It starts at the stunning for their heartfelt ceremony (cue the tears 🥹). Then we are off to because Spanish architecture is the bride’s OBSESSION, and honestly? Same, girl. 😍

But wait, it gets better! We hit up for sunset vibes, and let me tell you, the light was absolute magic. Golden hour? CHECK. Nonstop laughter? Double check. 💃🏼💍

And as if the day couldn’t get any more epic, we wrap it up with star photos at an overlook, because Sedona under the stars? Chef’s kiss. 🌌✨

Halsey & Brenton, you two are pure joy, and I’m still not over how perfect this day was. 🧡

“I can’t even count how many times I have watched it and have cried every time!! You put it together so beautifully and I appreciate you and Jake so much! You both have a way of capturing to make someone feel their best! I was so nervous to see all of these pictures of myself and video but I love every moment of it!!
I could go on and on about how much I love it and everything you have done for us!! We will have these for the rest of our lives and will think of you guys on every anniversary as we make it a tradition to watch the video!”

This was the email we got back from our girl, Becky, once she saw her wedding video! It almost made me tear up, let’s just say that!

This is why we do what we do! It’s not lost on us how important wedding days our to our Honeybee couples and we are so damn passionate about creating a video with the STORY of your wedding day front and center! If we’re not making you cry, we’re not doing our jobs right!

Sarah & Richard came alllll the way from the US to elope in the Faroe Islands yesterday, and let me tell you—Mother Nature tried to rain on their parade, but they didn’t even pull out their umbrella, ella, ella! 💍

The views? Jaw-dropping.

The love? Unstoppable.

The rain? Just made it even more iconic, honey.

Transition from weddings to elopements in 7 steps!

Hooray you are ready to take the next steps to the job of your dreams! Welcome to the dark side, awesome nerd. To take the plunge below are things you need to know to become an elopement photographer. Each one is a step that will take time to perfect, but it’ll be so freakin worth it!

1. Portfolio shift - You need to be selective about images and choose the ones that represent elopements well.

2. Know the problems of your new couples - These couples are likely looking for someone who understands why they are eloping and the different challenges they are facing such as, where to do paperwork and what an elopement looks like for them.

3. Website change - Go through your website and see what it says, make sure there are only “best elopement photographer” vibes!

4. Social media - show what you want to shoot! You’ll want to shift the message from traditional weddings to those adventurous elopement days you’re seeking!

5. Styled shoots - Get out there, make some friends, and start putting out in your elopement photography what you want to attract back!

6. Be an expert for the locations - If a couple sees that you have been at a location before, they already have a layer of trust that you can take the best photos at that location.

Costa Rica is the 2024 destination of the year!

🗓️Best month to be married in Costa Rica:
Typically, the summer dry season runs from December through April and is the priciest time to visit. Winter, or the wet or green season, falls May through November and is usually more affordable. The best month depends on what YOU are looking for!

💸How much does it cost?
Weddings in Costa Rica are about 30% cheaper than in America, but you still need to factor in the travel costs you may not be spending if you stay stateside. While weddings in Costa Rica will probably be less than their equivalent in the US, don’t expect to be getting luxury without the price tag. The truth is that your destination wedding cost will vary.

- This is the beach section to visit if you are looking for a quiet, intimate ceremony. The only people you’ll find in the water are swimmers and surfers which have far less traffic than the beaches with paddle boarders, snorkelers, and other water activities. Ps. there are also tacos close by!

I bet you are an adventurer. Deep in your soul, I see it.

My story starts allll the way back with little girl Kelsey. I was so beyond privileged to go on lots of adventures as a kid! Right outside my house was a TON of acres of forest land with large boulders, so just steps outside my house was an adventure!

I know my parents got married because of a few photos. The story of their wedding day gets told and retold, but the details start to get fuzzy. It goes, my parents eloped with three guests in Cannon Beach, Oregon, a place they chose by closing their eyes and pointing to a spot on the map. In this one photo, they’re kissing in the courthouse doorway.

When I lost my dad, this one photo became everything. I’ll never be able to experience my parents’ wedding day because they don’t have an album. That album would be worth more than all the gold in Gringotts to me.

When I got married, I received an online gallery with images. I downloaded them, put a few on social aaaand then I never saw them again. It STILL saddens me to this day that I don’t have a wedding album. Literally it’s SO HARD for me to make my own, even when I make dozens for my Honeybee couples.

That was the moment when I decided to DO BETTER for my couples and change the way I do business.
