The People Served:
Edison Arts Foundation will be located in Fort Bend/Houston and primarily serves individuals residing within East Fort Bend County/Houston area. Census and Housing and Urban Development has determined some of this area in need of services for the poor and uninsured. MEET THE CREW of HOUSTON’S URBAN NUTCRACKER!

Meet Creative Director Traci Greene!

Traci began her classical ballet training in Chicago, Illinois, under the direction of Elizabeth Boitsov of the Bolshoi Ballet. Traci studied multiple genres of dance throughout high school and college and was the appointed dance captain and choreographer of the Southern University Dancing Dolls.

Following graduation, Traci landed two leading roles in the Los Angeles production of The Chocolate Nutcracker starring Debbie Allen and a young Misty Copeland. She later relocated to NYC to continue her training at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy where she received multiple awards in acting and dance.

Traci has traveled the world professionally as an actor, dancer, and the appointed female dance captain of the International and European touring companies of A West Side Story. She was also casted as a dancer in The Color Purple on Broadway workshop by choreographer Donald Byrd which was later produced by Oprah Winfrey.

After relocating to Houston, Traci served as a full-time dance teacher for HISD for 8 years before opening her award winning studio, The Houston Dance Lab (2010-2020). Traci’s students have been accepted into some of the nation’s most prestigious undergraduate dance and summer intensive programs.

In 2013, Traci founded Culture Arts Initiative, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization designed to empower and support young dancers who are under-represented in the arts. Culture Arts Initiative has awarded 100,000 in scholarship awards to underserved and underrepresented dancers throughout the U.S.

Her love for children, the arts, and the city of Houston inspired her to create a multi-cultural annual theatrical production that could support the needs of under-served youth who wish to study dance. “Houston’s Urban Nutcracker” is largest scholarship award fundraiser and has become a Houston holiday favorite since its debut in 2018.

Traci is proud to currently serve as Director and Dance Coach of the talented and beautiful Southern University Fabulous Dancing Dolls.
