The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion’s massive double parlors, circular staircase and rooms built on a grand scale remind your guests of a time when hospitality was a way of life. With the grace and elegance of traditional Southern entertaining, the Mansion is available for weddings, receptions, parties, showers, dinners and corporate functions.

Thank you to the families who chose the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion as the backdrop for their private, Nutcracker-themed children's tea. Your laughter and holiday cheer filled our halls with magic! 🎁
This lovely dress is a re-make that graces one of our bedrooms. This style dress is a day dress, meant for casual wearing during the Bragg period. The dress designs were very intentional. The top and bottoms were often separate to encourage mixing and matching to expand the wardrobe.
The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion was honored to host the brave men and women of the Coast Guard for their Christmas party!
It was truly a night to remember 🎄🎁

Wednesday, December 13th Closed for tours
Thursday December 14th and Friday December 15th our last tour will start at 2:00. We will be closed for the remainder of the afternoon.
Merry Christmas! At the end of each tour all of our guests have the opportunity to browse our gift shop. Make sure to check our website for tour dates and times. We have lots of unique and special items.

Massive thanks to the talented Johnny Weaver & Co. for sprinkling their decorating magic and turning our tree into a winter wonderland. Also, thank you to Pop's Midtown for making our holiday season extra special with the perfect Christmas tree.
The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion will have an altered tour schedule on Wednesday, December 6th and Friday, December 8th.
Wednesday the last tour will be start at 1:00.
Friday, the last tour will start at 2:00.
Antique spotlight!
This week we are featuring another one of Mrs. Mitchell's lovely belongings. This beautiful velvet coat reflects Mrs. Mitchell's refined taste and carries stories from the past. Each thread weaves a tale of grace and sophistication!

If you guessed 'dumbwaiter,' you're spot on! This tiered tray was used to serve food, teas, and any extra items needed during meal time. The dumbwaiter helped the party continue on once the waitstaff was dismissed. Stop by the mansion to see how they are used today.

The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24. We will resume our regular schedule on Tuesday, November 28th.

Y'all know your history! Plenty of people were able to tell the difference between the Ladies and Gentlemen's chairs. For those who may not know:
Gentlemen's chair (left): This chair is taller, more throne-like and features arm rests.
Ladies chair (right): This chair is shorter and does not feature arm rests to give space for the large dresses that were worn during the time period.

This lovely piece is a tussie-mussie from our gift shop! Dating back to the medieval era, these bouquets were kept close to the body to ward off illness, as it was believed that foul odors carried diseases. From a time stricken by plague and with minimal bathing opportunities, the tussie-mussie was an elegant solution.

This is our lovely fainting couch that graces our double parlor. This piece has earned its name from the historical speculation about the effect of women's clothing from the time period! It was thought that women wearing tight corsets and heavy gowns would need such a couch to lounge on if they exerted themselves too much. Come see this antique beauty for yourself during one of our historical tours!

This elegant antique tray isn't just a piece of history; it's a relic of social etiquette from the past. 🕰️ Commonly used in the 18th and 19th century, the Calling Card Tray was used to elegantly present those who came to visit. Elite guests would place a card in the tray that displayed their name to be announced to all.
