Don’t be one of the couples who either forgets about choosing their getting ready location or passively make a decision on just any random hotel.
Three things to look for from a photographer’s perspective:

1. Lighting
Depending on your photographer’s style, generally natural lighting is always preferred over the yellow or mixed white/yellow lighting that hotel spaces.
It’s important that you communicate with your hotel or site visit a location to ensure that you have plenty of natural lighting.

2. Room Aesthetics
One of the biggest mistakes in this process is not considering the interior decor and design.
From the color of the walls and carpet to the wall art (which is usually nailed/stuck to the wall for theft reasons and can’t be temporarily removed).
Consider if what is the room will blend well with your wedding vibes/theme.

Side note: Sometimes less is more. There’s nothing wrong with plan solid walls 😊

3. Space
Getting ready is usually more than just the bride and her hair stylist and makeup artist. Usually other bridesmaids or mothers are in the room with you.
While hair & makeup is an important aspect to consider for the amount of space - having an area where the bride is able to put on her wedding dress and accessories.
While you may think that using one room space for hair, makeup, and getting dressed - the turn around time to clean between each activity makes it stressful and rush for time.
For hotel rooms in particular, I would recommend upgrading to a suite and keeping one area of the suite untouched for getting dressed or renting a hotel’s meeting/business room.

Bonus: Outdoor Spaces or Accessible Lobby areas
After the getting ready portion, using the lobby or outdoor scenery (either on the property or nearby area) for portraits: first looks, wedding party, or family.
