I simply loved working the summer at ASF so much, that I couldn’t stay away!

I’m so happy excited to announce that I will be Wardrobe Supervisor for Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s ‘Dear Jack, Dear Louise’ this September/October! This is such a huge opportunity for me, and a giant milestone to step onto, especially while I’m still completing my final semester of college. The only place to go from here is up, and what a grand starting position it is!

So so blessed to have been Head Wardrobe for “PIPPIN”! I can’t believe I got to hang with superb people and do what I love to do! Though the long nights were exhausting capital E, I couldn’t have had a better Wardrobe and Makeup crew to help me do the job. ❤️

I’m an artist at heart.

I love to create new, different things. I think outside of the box. If I don’t like it, I’ll tell you. I was a jester in a past life and my jokes reincarnated with me.

All silliness aside, I’m Krys Kromer, I use They/Them pronouns, and I am a costume technician. I’ve been stitching pants since I was a kid, but I never really felt that spark for costumes until I hit the stage for the first time. Even then, I don’t think I knew that it was the costumes I was there for.

It was hard to fit in growing up in a lot of ways, and until I stepped into the world of theatre, I didn’t realize I just had yet to find the people who also understood me. If you had told me that I’d walk into a costume shop and never leave it and change my entire life trajectory to involve the creation and design of costumes three years ago, I’d have laughed in your face.

Jokes on me, I love it here. I love my costume corner. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed, and that really stuck with me — I want to be able to create that same love and dedication for somebody else one day, too.
