Cheers to 30 years! It was April of 1994, I had my first paid wedding job, I wasn’t a florist yet - as a newlywed myself, I had just gone through the grueling planning process, so I helped a co-worker plan her wedding. I started Deja Vu as an event planner and realized that was not my calling, just a path into the crazy world that is the floral business. After a few weddings, working as a part-time event panner - I realized there was need for a “wedding only” florist in the Hudson Valley - I started asking my clients if I could do their florals as well, eventually making the leap to just doing floral design. Being self-taught has given me an edge in this business - there was no one to tell me I couldn’t do something, or I shouldn’t try something. Trial, errors, blood, sweat and tone of tears - has brought to this magical place in my business. I create when I want, for whom I want, where I want. That is success for me. I must mention all the wonderful people that have gotten me here. First and foremost, my family. My husband, my boys and their families are everything to me and the reason I work so hard. They have given up many weekends and precious time to help be build this business. My Mom, my daily dose of energy, love and laughter and my forever cheerleader. To my amazing clients - for entrusting me with the most creative part of your most special days. My assistants - extended family really…Aida, Theresa, Kitty, Alexa and Jess - you are simply the best!
