Montgomery ISD competes with neighboring districts for teachers and staff.
Currently, starting teacher salaries in MISD are approximately $3,300 lower than the average of other districts in our area. Prop A provides funds for the district to increase teacher salaries to help recruit and retain high-quality teachers.

Did you know that over $800K has been cut from the MISD budget over the last year to address budget shortfalls? With those cuts, the district still adopted a deficit budget.

Proposition A provides $5.5M of new funding in the current fiscal year (and is expected to provide at least as much each year thereafter) for the district’s Maintenance & Operations budget. These additional funds would be used to recruit and retain high-quality staff by providing teacher pay increases, while allowing the district to maintain student programs and increase safety and security.
