Denim & Diamonds, a very true tribute to the Monticello Chamber of Commerce & Industry 75 year anniversary!! While we have only been supporting this community and chamber for the past 1.5 years, the relationships made makes it feel like a lifetime!

Although neither of us came home with the 1.0carat diamond pendant, we had a helluva time!

It’s not everyday you get the opportunity to be surrounded by the amazing people representing the businesses in the community you are blessed to be a part of.

This community is truly what small business dreams are made of. No matter how big or small, the support never fades. It’s incredible.

The first Winter porch Pot Workshop was AMAZING!!! There were a lot of familiar faces as well as a few new bee friends!

Petal it Forward 2023.

The goodwill initiative by the Society of American Florist started 8 years ago. Participants receive 2 bouquets, urging them to keep 1 bouquet and share the other with someone else. Science has proven that flowers reduce stress and anxiety and bring people great happiness.

I was honored to be the recipient of the 2023 Star Tribune MN Best Florist Award. Tonight was the banquet to celebrate all of these amazing businesses. It was such an amazing and humbling experience and I am so blessed to have been a part of it.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. To honor those who have fought this courageous battle, this one’s for you.

A portion of my proceeds from the month of October will be donated back to those who are fighting the fight, for those who are looking down cheering their fellow fighters on and the unfortunate that will have to fight this battle some day.

My donation will be made to the Pay It Forward Fund. This non-profit strives to help women fighting that breast cancer battle (and other cancers) pay their everyday living expenses so they can focus on kicking cancer’s ass.

Self-care.

Today I took 3 hours out of my day to get my hair done. It had been 6 months. My hair looked ridiculous. I hated that I had let it get to that point, because that’s not me.

This summer has been insane on all levels possible. For me to take 3 hours out of my day for myself meant I was taking 3 hours away from my clients and customers. I just couldn’t justify it.

It was one sleepless night that I finally decided that I needed to do this for myself. I know, it sounds silly. It’s just hair, who cares what it looks like? Your hair doesn’t affect your work, so why bother?

I needed this. I needed this for my mental health. I needed to feel “pretty” again, as trivial as it may seem.

So this is a simple reminder to my humans out there that are busy as hell, trying to do the damn thing and keep it together, take the time for yourself. Take the time for some self-care.

This whole balance of personal self-care and running a business is going to take a long time to figure out. But thank you to all of you for helping me through it all!

As I sit and reflect on the week, I can’t help but feel so grateful. Grateful for the opportunities to compete, for growth, for disappointment, and the continued drive to do it all over again.

Then there’s this beautiful soul sitting next to me, my fellow Bee Flower Friend I am beyond grateful for. We closed out our 2023 MN State Fair experience, and I couldn’t be more proud of her!

The theme this year is Seasons.
These beauties along with many other amazingly talented florists will be on display starting at Noon today until tomorrow evening in the Horticulture Building.

One of my greatest joys is serving others, today, it just so happens to be literal.

Today, we are volunteering at the Twins Game with the non-profit group Rock from the Heart. I was introduced to them by Bailey Ann when I was asked to do flowers for a benefit concert they were hosting.

So today I surround myself with two of my favorite bees, a good cause and some Twins Baseball.

It’s been a week to remember, and it’s only Tuesday!!

Today I completed my 400th hour and received my Diploma in Floral Arts and Science. I can now officially call myself a Professional Floral Designer.

Although I’ve dreamt it, I never thought I would be here today. I started my classes in April of last year and what an experience I’ve had. I have my Koehler & Dramm Institute of Floristry instructors to thank. Each and every one of them brought something amazing to my depth of knowledge and skill. The fellow like-minded humans I met along the way, you’re pretty great too!

My Bearded Beast surprised me with a bouquet he made and was waiting for me after class. One of my sweetest blessings from the program, Greta Olerud Roberts. We spent damn near the whole 400 hours together and we have become amazing friends, confidants and encouragers of one another.

To everyone who has supported my education, thank you. I know it’s been hard to not understand my hours and why I’ve been closed more than I care to be. But I appreciate your patience and understanding!

So here’s to another milestone, and to think I’m just getting started!! I have so many emotions right now, I’m grateful to share them all with you!

I would like to take a moment to interrupt this gloomy Monday to share some rather exciting and humbling news with all of you...

Some of you may remember back in April when I was nominated for Star Tribune's Readers' Choice award for "Best Florist." The nomination in and of itself was exciting enough for me. Upon completion of the contest, and the voted had ended, I had no idea what to expect next. I received an email Mid-April informing me that Queen Bee's had been voted a "Minnesota's Best 2023 Winner" and I had taken the gold. I was sworn to secrecy until the results were published in August. Yes, 4 months of secrecy to everyone other than my parents and my Bearded Beast.

This news was something I NEVER anticipated in my life. I'm a new business owner, trying to establish myself in the amazing Monticello community and still trying to figure everything out.

I am beyond blessed and so grateful to have each and every one of you standing by me on this adventure. YOU are the reason I do what I do and YOU are the reason I am able to take great pride in calling myself a winner.

This is a true testament of what copious amounts of blood, sweat, tears, hard work and dedication can create. This lemonade I've been making for the past year and a half is really starting to turn into something amazing.

Thank you again, from the depths of my heart as tears well my eyes for believing in me, for believing in Queen Bee's and for following along on my adventure of making the most kickass lemonade ever to be made.

Dreams really do come true.

Floristry 4, Capstone.

This week was incredible in so many ways. I’m exhausted from 40 hours or pure floral designing. I learned so much, had a great group of classmates and an inspiring instructor full of artistic design talent.

We finished off the week with a mock PFDE-AIFD design competition. We had 4 hours to complete 5 designs with the fresh flower products and accessories already chosen for us with only 5 tools.

5) Fascinator (wearable)

I completed the test and I feel damn good about my end results.

We finished off the day with an old retired Teleflora vase that was dropped off on our instructors door step and we all designed in the same container in a different way.
