On November 1, come check out a reading of Under the World Tree, a new play by local playwright and politician, Conor Casey! Since her accident, college sophomore Freya spends each day sitting under a tree and talking to her squirrel friend, Ratatosk. Her eccentric behavior becomes worrying when strange things start happening on campus, including the disappearance of a classmate. In Under the World Tree, Norse gods are real and Freya struggles to accommodate their increasingly bloody demands.

Donor Artist Thursday featuring Conor Casey!

Conor Casey is an award-winning playwright based in Montpelier, VT, whose work blends dark comedy, history, and the absurd. He rediscovered his passion for writing during the pandemic and has since seen six of his plays produced across the country. Conor’s full-length work, Founding F***ers: The Story of Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold, will premiere at Greater Boston Stage Company in 2025. He won the top prize at the Celtic Calling Playwriting Competition for The Pangs of Ulster. When not writing, Conor serves as a state representative, using storytelling to amplify the voices of his community.

Traveler’s Circle, this weekend! Between shows of Ordinary Days this weekend, join us on Saturday for an afternoon of storytelling with Mark Laxer’s Traveler’s Circle!

The Traveler’s Circle (tc), founded in 1996 by Montpelier author Mark Laxer. It’s a fun, informal way to get storytelling experience and to learn about the larger world. Here’s how it works. It’s like jamming. Someone starts by telling a story and that story sparks another story—and another—and before you know it, mostly everyone has shared a story, as the theme through the evening evolves.

Donor Artist Thursday featuring Frosty Frog!

Frosty Frog is Macey (she/her) and Erik (he/him), a roots music duo based in Plainfield. They love to play the groovy tunes of times past, especially music that has been composed and celebrated in America, as well as original compositions that are inspired by time spent living in the beautiful state of Vermont. Both musicians have played separately in various projects for decades, but started playing together in recent years and discovered a special partnership, energized by their love of the music and each other.

Frosty Frog will be performing at the Hub on Saturday, Oct. 12!
