Happy Independence Day from Bushfield! 🇺🇸
It is a very special time here at Bushfield, the home of George’s favorite and younger brother, John (Jack) Augustine Washington!
Their letters to each other during the Revolutionary war are amazing to read and can be found here: https://founders.archives.gov/!
They shared a very strong brotherly bond.

We celebrate George’s victory each year with fireworks on the lawn, across the Potomac River. 🇺🇸🎇🎆🎇
We are so honored to care for such a special piece of history! 💕

Happy first day of Spring! The Bushfield cherry trees are almost in full bloom, the Tulip Magnolia is completely bloomed and we have had magnificent sunsets for the past couple of nights! 🌸🌺🌷

We are so honored for Bushfield to be featured in the prestigious Virginia Living magazine! 💕

The April edition focuses on Westmoreland county’s historic architecture, and we were so blessed for Bushfield to have been selected among the many amazing places here in “historyland.” 🇺🇸

Thank you to our wonderful vendors and friends who helped us get ready for this special event and made Bushfield look her very best, including Designs by Gouldman (decorations), Feather Your Nest (draperies), and Lora’s Flower’s and Gifts (floral arrangements). 💕🌸🌺

Throwback to the first wedding we hosted at Bushfield in 2013. Nikki and Patrick had the most beautiful wedding and were such a wonderful couple to work with!

Happy Presidents’ Day in celebration of our founding Father’s Birthday! 🎂🎉🎉🇺🇸🇺🇸

George Washington visited his beloved younger brother, John Augustine (Jack) at Bushfield many times, as documented in their letters to each other. They shared a very close bond, as do our two sons. 💕💕

We continue to preserve the room it is believed that he stayed in at Bushfield during his visits.
The George Washington suite has a wonderful view of the Potomac, upon which he traveled, and the original fireplace, mantle, and heart pine floors.

If only walls could talk, we would love to hear the conversations of George and Jack at Bushfield! 💕

The left pier (closest to the Potomac) is now restored at Bushfield! 💕💕
Thanks to our Amish friends at Wise Wolf Construction of Callao, Va! They completed removal and replacement of all the boards in less than 2 days! Amazing! 💪🏼🪵 We are so thankful for the growing Amish community in the NNK! 💕

We have exciting news to share! Bushfield will be featured in the March issue of Virginia Living Magazine for its architecture!
We are so grateful for all of our wonderful vendors (who we consider great friends) who helped us get ready for this exciting day of photography, including Janie of Designs by Gouldman, Lora and Bridget, of Miss Lora’s Flowers and Gifts of Montross! And Cindy, from Feather Your Nest of Warsaw for the beautiful draperies!
If you are in need of the most beautiful decorations and flowers, please reach out to these amazing and super talented ladies! We can’t thank them enough! They really outdid themselves! And a special thank you to J Paul Welch for his amazing drone photographs of Bushfield!

These are just a few of my amateur photos, but everything they did looks amazing! 💕You have to see it in person to really appreciate it!

Although the work seems never ending some days, we care for this beautiful treasure so that many future generations will enjoy and appreciate Bushfield and her history as we do.
