Congratulations to LHSOM faculty member Kate Skinner, whose big band chart was recently published by Brava Jazz!
“Delta Lake” is a soulful and modern harmonic journey inspired by a glacial lake nestled in the Tetons that can only be accessed by a hidden trail. Originally published for the LHSOM's Jazz Band II, the piece emulates the steep climb up to the lake, building tension and suspense with beautiful chords, a rising bass line, and rhythmic off-beats.

The World Beat Ensemble presents an excellent opportunity to delve into the musical cultures of West Africa, Latin America, and Asia while collaborating with fellow musicians. For the spring semester, we'll explore Samba from Brazil and Konkol, spoken rhythms of South India. It will be a special treat to perform in this style with the outstanding South Indian violinist Arun Ramamurthy at the World Music Celebration during the 2025 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in April.

The class will meet on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. If you want to enroll in the class, please register by January 15, the last day to register for the spring semester.
