Mount Airy Fireworks July 3rd - Big time professional fireworks display in Mt Airy, MD at the corner of Rt 27 and Twin Arch Shop Ctr (Mt AIry Fireman's Carnival Grounds).

Gates open at 4:00 event starts at 5:00 w/live music, food vendors and fireworks! The event is free The vision of Ben Golueke (Mt Airy Liquors) and Chris Coleman (Mt Airy Eye Care) is what brought this amazing event to Mt Airy! It is designed to be a family friendly atmosphere with live music every year. A place to pitch a blanket along with a cooler of beverages, and celebrate our country's indep

endence with our Mt Airy neighbors. An annual event our kids will look forward to and have lasting memories of. We sincerely hope to bring our wonderful community together through this event and thank our incredible sponsors who are helping to make this vision a reality. This event is and will always be FREE

* ARRIVE - Gates open at 4:00 (strictly enforced)
* ENJOY - Live Music (Southland) plays from 5-9:00
*OPENING CEREMONY - With national anthem and color guard gun salute 6:00
* FIREWORKS - Fireworks are at approximately 9:30
* YES - Coolers are allowed
* NO - Grills are not allowed
* There will be food vendors with food for purchase
* NO - Dogs are not permitted
* FREE - The event and parking are FREE

European Royals Loved Fireworks

Apparently, one of the first major fireworks displays happened at the 1486 wedding of King Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. We've also seen them used in coronations and births, like those for James II and the son of Peter the Great of Russia, respectively. The brave souls who made these shows happen — seriously, it was a dangerous job back then — were called fire masters. The one that did James II's coronation even received a knighthood for his work. Talk about a promotion!

Best weather EVER for tonight’s fireworks!!! Check it out!

Thanks to everyone that came out and endured the off and on rain! Sometimes quite heavy!! In spite of the rain a good time was had, and in the end, the fireworks were delayed by only 45 mins. With the fact that we are in a field and there are SO many people on the network it’s hard to get posts through, and there is a LOT of coordination on the ground. We do not make these decisions at all, the Fire Marshall does. We don’t decide when they can go off after the delay either, the Fire Marshall does. We also wait for updates. All of these reasons are why we tried to make as much prior notice that they would go off even with a delay Could we have done better? yes. Next year we’ll have someone exclusively dedicated just to social media updates as we go. Preferably off site so as not to be constricted by the limited cell service. That way the coordination can happen with the experts, and social stuff can have its own dedicated person who does nothing but be on the page here. We care greatly about the kids, and we hear you parents…we understand that waiting can feel like an eternity to them. Our goal would be to try and give more updates that can at least let you give them hope that they’re in their way soon. The show went off as soon as it was safe, with a minimal delay considering the rain we had. It was delightful, and so many people were still able to stick it out and enjoy the fireworks either in the grounds or in their car. We truly appreciate our small town and appreciate your understanding that in the end we’re all human doing human things and trying our best.

Scouts are here and getting ready to do the FREE face painting for the kids. We also have free glow necklaces and flags while supplies last!!

THE #1 question I get is will we cancel for rain…NO. The fireworks will go on. Weather says passing storms. Nothing long all passing and all should be done by 7:00. Come out with a tent and enjoy the day and the show!!
