Burlco Expungement Clinic and Resource Fair Coming Thursday, 10/24
The fourth annual Burlington County Expungement Clinic will be held Thursday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at two locations: Tabernacle Baptist Church in Burlington City and the JFK Recreation Center in Willingboro Township.
Those who attend will be able to speak with an attorney free of charge to see whether certain non-violent convictions can be expunged, which means they will be erased from their criminal history. In addition, several social service organizations will be on hand to provide additional assistance in multiple areas.
“I can’t emphasize enough what a valuable resource this is for those who are seeking to remove a criminal charge from their history in order to move forward with better employment, housing, and other services that will improve their lives,” Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw said. “I encourage anyone who is interested in this service to come out and see us on Thursday.”
More than 800 people have been assisted since the expungement clinic began three years ago.
Those who are planning to attend should bring any information they have about the case they are hoping to address. However, if that information is not available, it can likely be retrieved electronically at the clinic.
No appointment is needed. The incident applicants are seeking to remove did not have to occur in Burlington County, but must have taken place in New Jersey. Free lunch will be provided. Specific information about who may be eligible for expungement can be found at https://burlcoexpungement.com
In addition to expungement assistance, several organizations will be on hand to offer the following services:
• Access to free addiction treatment
• Blood pressure checks
• Identification cards issued for government housing
• Help with issues concerning Superior Court cases
• Housing assistance
• Job readiness services
• Re-entry services
• Services for families with youth in detention
• Voter registration services, and more.
The majority of the services will be offered at the JFK Center. Check the website for more information: https://burlcoexpungement.com
