King Henry VIII and Queen Katherine Parr Visits Canterbury Fair

Be ith the year of Our Lord MDXLY and in the ###VI year of the reign of our Most Sovern King, Henry the Eight of that Name, at the invitation of the Most Reverend Primate, Thomas Cantuar, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the King and His Queen, Katherine Parr, did visited Canterbury for its annual Market Fair. The Royal Court did progress from Londontown for the fair. Included in the royal court was the King’s beloved sister, the Dowager Queen Margaret Tudor of Scotland. There the King and the Royal court did enjoy the entertainment of the mistrals and Barbs ay even the sights of the dancers from the east. The King and Queens along with the court marveled at the trade items from far and near. The cooks of Canterbury made sure all were well feed and the King was well pleased with the local mead.
