Our annual Turkey Shoot ended last night and was a great success. I’m sharing this from one of our patrons in hopes that someone mistakenly walked away with his shotgun thinking it was theirs.

Hey y’all,
Last night my beloved Re*****on 1100 went missing from the shoot. We had an awesome night working it… it was super busy. I took one shot towards the end…. Went to check my target…. came back and my gun I’ve had for 40+ years was gone. My dad won this gun at the Island Club turkey shoot around 1979. It has huge sentimental value (probably only worth $300!).
There was a 870 pump left behind so I I am hopeful that someone just grabbed the wrong gun. It’s not like we have a hotline to call so please keep your ears open in case someone is trying to make this right. Thanks y’all!

It’s always good for a venue to have a plan B on your big day. Hurricane Ian threw us a curve ball, but we were able to get a plan in place for our renters.

Due to COVID- 19 the 2020 Turkey Shoot @ Goldbug Island has been canceled.
As you can imagine, the decision to cancel this year's event did not come easily. We are completely gutted but feel that at this point in time it is in the best interest of our members and the public to do so.
The COVID-19 virus has had a major impact on all of us, but none more so than our charities who receive all the proceeds from the The ECOMC Turkey Shoot after expenses.
Please consider this year donating directly to these charities.
Charities List 2018-2019 Fiscal Year:
1. College of Charleston – 2 scholarships in marine Biology or Wildlife Management
2. Charleston Southern University – 2 scholarships in marine Biology or Wildlife Management
3. East Cooper Meals on Wheels – Provided Meals to home bound residents
4. East Cooper Community Outreach – Basic needs, health services & empowerment for community member living below the poverty line
5. Camp Rise Above – Provided a Camp Experience for children with Multiple Medical Issues
6. Slocum-Lunz Foundation – Provided Grant money to students in Marine Sciences
7. My Sisters House – Helped to Empower Domestic Violence Victims and their Children to live free from abuse
8. Coastal Conservation Association – Contributed to the preservation of our coastline & other natural resources
9. Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing – Helped our wounded warriors suffering multiple disabilities through fly tying, fishing & rod building
10. Windwood Farm – Provided a Home, Schools & Family Therapy for Children At Risk & Their Families
11. Pattison’s Academy – Education to improve the quality of life for children with multiple disabilities
12. Wreaths Across America (Marion’s Marauders) – Veterans Remembrance Wreaths at grave sites in the Low Country
13. East Cooper Habitat – Christian Housing ministry, builds homes & hope
14. Friends of Fisher House Charleston – Temporary accommodations for veterans & their families to stay while veteran is getting care at Ralph Johnson VA.
15. Cimarron Hunts – They offer people with physical limitations or mobility challenges a chance to experience love of nature & gods gifts

We are so glad that Dorian has finally moved on! Gold Bug came through the storm with minimal impact - no floodwaters inside the building and the power is on! We are looking forward to the events scheduled in the coming weeks.
