Happy Friday to you all!!
I will have mixed bouquets at the flower cart this weekend for pickup Saturday or Sunday in Mt Zion. (Address provided in confirmation email) Bouquets are made up of 18-24 stems containing some or all of the following: sunflowers, zinnias, ageratum, lisianthus, celosia, lemon mint and more.

I am asking that you order/pay online beforehand, so that I know how many to put together. It is going to be a busy weekend, and this will help me make the most of my time. Use the link below to order. Thanks so much.

I'm so excited to debut Lazy Daisy's new flower cart, built by my amazing Dad, who was truly one of Daisy's best buddies. I still need to add some signage, but I'm too anxious to wait any longer.

Flowers will have protection from the sun, wind and rain until they can be picked up! Good timing with this crazy heat!

The cart will be out this Friday morning and all day Saturday. If you want something Friday afternoon, let me know and I'll set it out for you, otherwise I'm going to bring everything back in to the A/C until Saturday morning.

Dahlias are just getting started. They can be grown from tubers or seed. If from tubers, you get clones of what was on last year’s plant. Dahlias also produce seed that can be grown out. Interestingly, when grown from seed you have no idea what the flowers will look like, but they will definitely be different than the blooms that produced them. You could collect every seed from one dahlia plant, grow them out the next season and each one would look entirely different from the other. I find that fascinating!!
I’ve planted tubers, and also started seeds so it will be fun to see what’s ahead.

What a blessing it was to deliver these mini arrangements this morning to residents of local nursing and assisted living homes. Big thanks to my co-pilot Shannon Workman Lanier! We truly enjoyed it. Still looking for 4 more recipients. If you have someone in mind, comment and let me know. I will message you for their name and facility information and deliver at no cost to you.

Next week would have been Daisy's 13th birthday (for newer followers who may not know, Daisy was my sweet basset hound and garden companion who passed 3 months ago). I've been missing her so much this season.

I've decided in honor of her birthday to deliver 13 mini arrangements to residents of local nursing homes or assisted living facilities (Mt Zion/Decatur area). Please comment below if you have someone in mind and I will PM the first 13 people who respond to get the recipient's information and will deliver the flowers within the next week on your behalf.

Looking forward to bringing smiles to some faces this next week! 😀

This is my first attempt at growing lisianthus and let me tell you, it is a test of patience! The tiny seeds were started on December 29. The seedlings went on vacation to my parent's house in February while we enjoyed a wonderful week in Mexico with friends. I babied them every day until they were ready to plant out in April and then battled the moles who kept tunneling in and around where they were planted. But here we are, mid July, finally seeing these beautiful blooms and I feel like they are worth it. I can't wait to see the other colors and varieties very soon!

To me, it’s hard to beat a beautiful morning spent in the garden!

I’m excited about a few things coming up.

My sweet Dad has been working hard on making a sheltered stand so the flowers will have shade and protection while they wait for pickup. He’s so talented and always willing to help me out. What a blessing!

And Daisy’s birthday would have been in a few weeks. I’ve been thinking of ideas to make that a special day in her honor and will announce soon. Stay tuned!!

Last year my snaps were a failure. I had very few useable stems.. VERY few! So I made some adjustments to the seed starting process this winter and it seems to have helped.

Of course there are other flowers that I'm struggling with this year. There's always more to learn, which is one of the things I love most about gardening!

Here's a look at a few of the bouquets that have gone out the past few weeks in subscriptions, as well as arrangements for various celebrations. The garden is providing pretty blooms, a few at a times it seems. We are in that gap between early spring blooms and the heat lovers of summer, which will be bursting before we know it!!
