NDSU BISON FOOTBALL WATCH PARTY in the MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY CENTER!
NE ND Friends, please like and share and help us spread the word!
Join us this Friday, December 20th, at 7 PM, as the Bison take on New Hampshire in the third playoff game this year for the undefeated Bison. This is the semi-finals! The next stop is the National Championship! Come watch the game with other Bison fans on the 8' x 14' BIG screen with surround sound and new and greatly improved acoustics. This will be the fourth in a series of Bison watch parties we are planning where we can have some fun and raise funds for the Mountain Community Center. Everybody who has joined in on the Watch Parties has had a great time and they ALWAYS come back for the next one!
Here are the details you need to know:
1. $5 admission includes a raffle ticket for a $500 cash grand prize to be drawn on January 4th. (That's right, the day of the National Championship!)
2. "Tailgating" starts at 6:30 PM and will be pot luck. Bring your favorite tailgating food to share with other Bison fans. The game starts at 7 PM.
4. Anyone under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Volunteers from the Svold community working in the catering kitchen. They made about 100 vinetartas, astar bollars, and countless kleinurs! They are selling the Icelandic goodies at the Annual Hunter's breakfast to be held Saturday, November 9th at the Svold Hall! If there is any left, they will also be selling at the Faith in Action event in December. Kudos to you gals and remember, you can rent the catering kitchen with your friends and get your Christmas baking done!

Art Show and Silent Auction at the Deuce
An Art Show and Silent Auction will be held during the 114th Annual Deuce of August Icelandic Celebration in Mountain. The event will feature the works of Stephen K. “Steve” Gestson. Steve is of Icelandic descent and grew up in Edinburg, ND, and later spent much of his life in Denver pursuing his career as an Architectural Hardware Consultant. In his later years, Steve became interested in painting, and after taking a beginner’s painting class, he discovered he had an untapped talent, and developed a passion for painting.
After hearing of the Mountain Community Center project, his fondness for his Icelandic heritage prompted him to donate a large collection of his paintings to support the Community Center effort. He has donated more than 50 paintings, and many of them are Icelandic landscapes which are his interpretation of photos done by Patrick Desgraupes that are featured in the book titled “Iceland.”
The Art Show and Silent Auction will run from 9 AM to 7:30 PM on Saturday, August 3rd in the Community Center and will feature a limited number of the Gestson collection. Some of his paintings will also be on display on Sunday at the noon brunch following the morning church service. The Mountain Community Center Capital Campaign Committee sincerely appreciates this wonderful donation from Mr. Gestson and we continue to wish him all the best in his retirement years.

The Mountain Community Center has received estimates for the installation of acoustical tiles in the Community Hall. It is hoped that once these are installed, the quality of sound will improve immensely. Our next goal----to raise funds to cover the estimated cost of $6700! We have seed money of $2500 via a grant from Monsanto / Bernhoft Farms.

The Mountain Capital Campaign Committee is holding the 4th Annual ND Icelandic Open Golf Scramble on Thursday, June 27th with a shotgun start at 11 AM! We are looking for hole sponsors for that tournament. If you would like to be a sponsor, please email Katy Readel Heuchert at [email protected] or Loretta Bernhoft at bernhoft@ polarcomm.com by June 24th. Gold Sponsorships are $100 and entitle you to 2 steak suppers that evening. Platinum Sponsorships entitle you to 4 steak suppers and entry fees paid for one 4 person team. All proceeds go to the Mountain Community Center! Thanks to all who have supported us over the past four years!!

The third annual NORTH DAKOTA ICELANDIC OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENT is scheduled for Thursday, June 28th at the Cavalier Country Club. This is a four person scramble open to the public.
