Hi I'm Sue, the artist behind The White Violet, a boutique floral business specializing in one of a kind, hand crafted, faux flower arrangements. Launched in 2018, The White Violet has given me the opportunity to turn my lifelong passion for flowers, nature, and whimsy into something real that others can enjoy. I design for both individual and corporate clients, from small desktop sized arrangemen

ts to large pieces for lobbies and storefronts. I also teach hands on floral workshops where participants can learn how to design their own floral arrangements that they can then take home. As an experienced floral artist, having both trained and worked in floral design, my goal is to create floral decor that is both beautiful and long lasting. By using high quality faux, preserved and sola wood materials, I am able to create floral decor pieces that meet these goals and more. Every floral stem utilized in my designs are hand selected for their quality, uniqueness and visual interest. When choosing materials to work with I not only consider quality and aesthetic appeal, but also whether or not the material is eco-friendly and sustainable. My goal is to incorporate sustainable, VOC and toxin free, vintage and/or recycled components, in some form, into each of my designs and/or packaging, as I believe it is important to create mindfully. Decided to buy a new camera today and shot a few photos of my newest mason jar arrangement. I absolutely love orange and reds against a dark backdrop and am excited to see where my photography journey takes me. My iPhone has served me well for years, but it was finally time to branch out. I went with the Sony A6100, picked up a lighting kit, a zoom lens and some more bells and whistles. I’m completely self taught, and absolutely love photographing flowers! Have you used a similar camera? 📷 Please feel free to share advice or tips in the comments!

Once upon a time, in a little rustic workshop, something special came to life. Ohh the drama! These darling wood flower mason jar arrangements have been created many times over for clients who wanted these beautiful jars for anniversary parties, baby showers, wedding showers or just because. They are perfect for a rustic, farmhouse style event yet equally appropriate for traditional or transitional decor. I hand paint each flower as well as the mason jars with safe, toxin free paints, as it’s important to me to be environmentally friendly anyway I can.

Kicking off 2024 with this stunner! YES - these are FAUX!

One of my goals as a faux florist is to offer my customers things you won’t find in your local craft store, on Amazon, etc. I search high and low to find florals that look amazing and are different from what is normally shown in what feels like every store you pop into lately. Each flower is hand selected by me so that I know up front what the color, texture and quality of the product is before I use it in an arrangement for you. These real touch tulips and dry touch roses are just gorgeous!!

Every year I have clients ask me whether or not I make custom bows for the holidays, and my answer is always ABSOLUTELY! Not only can I make you a custom bow (or several), but I can teach you how to make them yourself!

If you are interested in having custom bows made for you simply message me. If you live locally in the greater Mountainside, NJ area, I can make and deliver bows, or if you would like to learn for yourself, I offer a Bow Making 101 class that covers how to make the classic Christmas bow. This hands on 60 minute class will teach you the basics of how to select ribbon, bow making techniques and tying off/installing your bow onto your holiday decor. Up to 5 people can be accommodated per class, so grab your friends and schedule a fun holiday crafting night while there is still time!

A recent corporate piece for

This piece channels the warm colors of the fall season. Peonies, hydrangea, gladiolus, allium, orchids and more were used to create this permanent arrangement for a new store opening. Despite its size, these arrangements are surprisingly lightweight. I carefully pack each one for shipping to different locations throughout the US, despite their size. I wasn’t sure how I’d accomplish this feat, but after careful research, and based on my experience shipping smaller arrangements over the years, I devised a system that I use consistently for these types of arrangements.

Yesterday I jumped back into finishing up several holiday pieces for you. This mixed evergreen and dahlia centerpiece is one of them. These real touch evergreens are just fabulous, and the cement birch bark style planter gives it some extra texture and oomph! Find in my ETSY shop now. Ahhhh - Spanish Moss!! But wait - did you know that Spanish Moss is neither Spanish nor moss? It’s actually part of the Bromeliad family and a cousin of the pineapple!

When harvesting your own moss for use around houseplants or to cover floral mechanics with, be sure to wear gloves & clean your moss before bringing in your home, as little red mites called chiggers can sometimes be found in the moss, along with spiders and other fun critters!

Whoa! Day 3 of #MarchMeetTheMaker challenge is about BELIEFS & VALUES! I will admit - this post took me a long time! Our Story

It all started with what my friend affectionately called the “Bunny in a Can”. This was March of 2019, and we were discussing how to successfully launch a small business over coffee. I had been working on some designs in my home studio and was sort of-almost ready to take the giant leap forward and launch the next phase of my life, one I had thought about for a very long time. Without hesitation my friend sent Bunny in a Can into the world via social media, and the rest is history.

The White Violet is a floral art studio located in Mountainside, New Jersey, specializing in small scale tabletop designs and hand painted mason jars. My design style is inspired by my home state of Pennsylvania, and lends itself more towards nature and a farmhouse feel. The paints I use in my work are non-toxic, lead free and have no volatile organic compounds (VOC) and do not contain ammonia or formaldehyde. They are mineral based, are very durable and come in over 50 colors. I strive to use high quality florals in my design that look realistic yet are affordable.

White Violet designs are sold locally in New Jersey at both Prince’s Farm Stand in Mountainside and Wild Birds Unlimited in Scotch Plains. White Violet designs can also be found from time to time at local festivals, fairs and the like. Customers can purchase directly from me at any time by reaching out. Special orders are welcome.
