"In marriage there are no manners to keep up, and beneath the wildest accusations no real criticism. Each is familiar with that ancient child in the other who may erupt again. We are not ridiculous to ourselves. We are ageless. That is the luxury of the wedding ring." — Enid Bagnold

My good friend Adriana is an incredible wedding photographer in her own right, so when she approached, Leslie and I about photographing their wedding in Olympic National Park in Olympia, Washington, it was a no-brainer for us to say yes, and an incredible honor!

The first part of any of these trips for us is meeting with the couple and discussing possibilities for photo opportunities, travel arrangements, and overall adventure, possibilities! I always love to find off the beaten path, places for the couples that I work with when planning an adventure elopement like the one we did for Adriana and Mitchell.

They had found a lovely little cabin off the coast of the Puget sound to stay in, so we did all of their preparation, first look, and detailed photographs there. Along with some help from the adorable daughter, Charlotte! After their first look, we traveled to the Hoh rainforest for some beautiful shots with nature, and then made our way over to the coast to catch a typical misty, foggy, dramatic Washington sunset.

On day two of our adventure, we made our way to Olympic Lake, for some additional couples and family portraits with the beautiful mountains in lake in the background. Having amazing friends like Adriana and Mitchell make this experience all the more wonderful and special for us, and we were so excited and honored to be there to capture it for them.

Katheryn and Hank’s wedding day in Savannah Georgia was absolutely incredible. Hosted at the Hotel Bardo, the luxurious modern charm coupled with Savannah‘s unique sensibilities created a wedding day atmosphere that was second to none.

When I first met with Katherine and Hank, we bonded over a common love for music and movies. Hank also works in the Wedding industry, as an officiant for couples all over the south. We had such a great first call, that it was an easy decision to work together.

They made the decision to have a small wedding day, despite their luxurious surroundings, and the experience of everyone involved was all the better for it. Talking, laughing, catching up with loved ones and friends you haven’t seen for years really engendered a sense of closeness for everyone attending.

When Lily and Chad first started talking to me about their dream wedding in Yosemite national Park, there was a lot of excitement around the possibility of making it a full day experience for them. I have a deep love for California, and the landscape, especially in central California, is absolutely incredible. From the coast and Big Sur, to the national parks and the Sierra Nevada mountains, Central California is an often overlooked gem.

We started our California adventure with the sunrise engagement session on the coast of California at Big Sur. From there, we drove up Highway one to Carmel by the sea, a beautiful little town that encapsulates everything that coastal California cities have to offer.

On Lily and Chad‘s wedding day itself, we woke up bright and early at 12:45 AM, to drive to Yosemite national Park and make the 2 mile hike to Taft point for a beautiful sunrise wedding ceremony surrounded by only their closest friends and family. From there, we spent the next 20 hours in Yosemite national Park, capturing all the beautiful landmarks, enjoying the wonderful company, and creating images that Lillian and Chad will never be able to forget. This experience was made all the more special by the inclusion of Eleanor, their one year-old daughter, on the initial hike itself and ceremony.

Through this experience, Lily and Chad have been incredible, and become incredible friends. Not only was this trip once in a lifetime experience for everyone involved, but it was an absolute pleasure for us to capture their wedding day, and guide them along this journey.
