So,
Milton is determined to come roaring through Central Florida. Trey and I are far enough inland that the storm should be down to a Cat 3, hopefully a Cat 2.
I’ve been hearing about people holding hurricane parties. Even though this storm is no joke and our friends on the west coast are in for a really hard hit, I think we’ll be OK.
Many years ago Jimmy Buffett wrote a song in Key West while waiting on a Hurricane. I’ve made a recording of Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season! I hope you enjoy it! Good luck to us all!!

Hi, Y’all,
People are asking if Trey and I are running or riding out the next hurricane. Gus and I are sheltering in place at Lucky’s. My apartment is above the garage (which is a concrete block building). Lucky has a generator, I have a great cooler, plenty of food, water and ice, so we’ll be fine.
Trey gets on a plane with the FSC SKI TEAM tomorrow morning in Orlando to fly to Texas for the team Nationals, so, he’ll be long gone before we get hit!
So, we'll be fine!
Trey just called to tell me he has been invites to join the English National Honor Society! With his Psychology AND Athletic Nationals Honor Societies, he now has THREE National Honor Societies memberships!! I guess that fancy Webb "edumacation" WAS worthwhile, after all!

Joe’s Garage Band’s card met me at The Snell Shell, my studio in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I think Trey put it there. I like the connection and hope this great band will come play my place sometime.
So far we’ve hosted Road Kill Drums (Mark and Connie Combs) twice. Hoping more of the Central Florida musicians/singers will come play with us in the future!
It’s a very cool Stress Free H***y Tonk!

These were all taken by one of the staff photographers yesterday! In the first picture, Trey and I are high diving for Joy Kelly, the other Tennessean here, a GREAT skier and a veteran of 12 Worlds! She set a new World Record in Skalom on Wednesday! She is amazing and she and her husband Dennis have been so supportive of me. I’m humbled and proud that these great people are friends of Trey and myself!
The other shots are of me getting ready to jump and lugging the equipment back up the stairs after my 3 ride away jumps! (It’s bad enough that we throw ourselves at a solid incline plane that is 14 feet wide, 22 feet from bottom to top and five feet high! That gets you MOTHING unless you ski away! I did just that all three times!)

In response to several request, I am posting I’m From Tennessee, the song that is the background music for Trey’s splendid video that I have watched before each set. It is an incredible boost to me and I can’t begin to tell how great it makes me feel every time I watch it!
I actually wrote the song one morning on my home lake, Center Hill in Smithville, Tennessee. I STILL believe it is the most beautiful place I ever ever been!

So, once again, Trey continues to amaze me! Yesterday morning right before we left the hotel for the Worlds, Trey said, “Before we go, I want you to watch this video.” I must have given him a look like. “We need to go” because he said, “It’s short.” He played the following video that he “created”. To everyone involved in this video I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and I love you all! Please don’t feel left out if you weren’t included. Trey either didn’t have a number for you or he thought the technology would be frustrating for you!
I watched it be fire I tricked today again. I’ll watch it before I jump tomorrow and if I’m lucky enough to make it into the finals, I’ll rewatch it then!
I’m beyond proud of my amazing Son! I am humbled by all who participated in this project. It packs A LOT into a couple of minutes!

First leg of the trip to Spain for the Over 35 World Water Ski Championship Tournament is over! After my van overheating due to a leak in the radiator (which was checked and misdiagnosed on Thursday as no leak and “worn out” antifreeze) before we got out of Lakeland! We went back to Florida Southern and swapped my vehicle for Trey’s. Believe me when I say it took an engineering degree and a shoe horn to get the water ski bag in a Toyota Camery! It cost us about two hours total, so no big deal!
Trey moment was, “Well, Dad, we “Rolled with the punches” very well! Considering that yesterday was the first Jimmy Buffett Day, I was so proud of my young Parrot Head for quoting that line from Jimmy’s Cowboy in the Jungle. A great song and a great way of life!
Getting to the gate at MIA was a breeze. TSA was easy, polite, and rapid especially considering that I set off alarms due to the titanium plate in my chest (which I had actually forgotten about!) This was my first flight post Bipass surgery! AND I got “caught” trying to “smuggle” sun block on the plane in my carry on (yes, I knew better, just in a hurry!)
Also, Trey was lucky enough to get “chosen” for extra screening! Is t he lucky?
So, a short flight to Charlotte, NC, a four hour layover, then, onward to Madrid and the Worlds!

Yesterday was an AMAZING DAY! I took Trey out for his 21st Birthday breakfast at his favorite breakfast place in Lakeland, Florida! Great time!
I told him (again) that the morning he was born I carried him from delivery to the nursery. As I put him in his bassinet, with my parents looking on from the other side of the glass windows, he had his hand open. I laid my finger in his palm. He immediately wrapped his tiny fingers around my finger and squeezed tightly! Daddy said to Momma, “He’s checking to see if that boy can grip a ski rope!” Of course, that was exactly what I was doing!
As we left the restaurant, Trey invited me to have dinner with him, Myra, and some other of his college posse! There were six of them and me! Myra made a delicious soup. It was great fun!
I tricked after I got back to Lucky’s and prepared for our trip to Spain for the Over 35 Workday Water Skiing Tournament! Trey and I fly out tomorrow. We are beyond excited!
When I found out Trey was coming into my life and I was finally going to be a father at 48 years old, a lot of my friends were dismayed that I was becoming a father at 48. I heard, “You don’t know what you’re in for!” so many times that I started responding, “You’re right, I don’t! But I do know this is going to be an amazing adventure!” Now, 21 years later, I was right and it has been so much better than I ever dreamed!
I’m very proud of Trey for so many reasons! I am so thankful for the fine young man who I see today. He is amazing and I couldn’t be more thankful and proud!

After dinner, Trey and his group went to the Dungeons and Dragons Club and I went to Mitch Stewart’s jam at Ducky’s. Getting to play with Mitch and the gang was a blast, as always!

This Thursday night I will be at Mitch Stewart’s Ass Kicking Jam at Ducky’s Dockside in Haines City, Florida! I’m high jacking this event to celebrate two “suspicious” events!
First, 21 years ago this Thursday, 7.7 pounds of incredible joy entered my life as “Young Trey Snell” was born that day! It’s been an amazing adventure and I’ve loved every single minute of his incredible life. I’m having breakfast with him and his friends are doing a birthday party with his that night so he won’t be with me.
Second, Friday afternoon Trey and I will drive to Miami to catch our plane Saturday morning to Madrid, Spain for the over 35 World Water Skiing Championships where I will compete in slalom, trick, jump, and overall! Our first time across the pond and my first time to compete in the World’s. To say we are excited is a huge understatement!
So, come on out for great music, cool drinks, an amazing staff, and the best people you’ll find in one place! I hope a lot of my friends will come to this Bon Voyage party! (Just bring your smiling face and thirst! It’ll be a BIG TIME!
Music starts at 6:00 and goes until 9:00!
By the way, full disclosure, neither Mitch nor Ducky’s have sanctioned my high jacking, nor are anything said here approved by Mitch, Ducky’s, or, frankly ANYBODY! (But, they are always down for a party, so, hopefully, they will not call security on me! If they do, that’ll be entertaining as well!

IMPORTANT UPDATE IN FINAL SUMMER SHOW AT THE SNELL SHELL!!!!!!!!’
Hi everybody!
I seems that my promotion department made a big mistake and thankfully Trey caught it! (As with most of the organizational operations of The White Bay Freddie International Ever Changing All Star Band, I am the promotion department. I’m pretty much the whole shooting match with Trey being mostly oversight and sometimes grunt!)
So, this is the official and final word! This event will be this FRIDAY NIGHT starting at 7:00, NOT Saturday night! I’m sorry for any confusion (I live in the constant state of Mass Confusion, after all!) We are celebrating Trey’s 21st birthday (yes, it’s 4 weeks early, but we’ll be in Florida! Of course, there will be made from scratch chocolate birthday cake! It’s also our Going Back to School party (senior year in college for him and back to Lucky Lowe’s Ski School for me!) and the Send off to Spain and the Over 35 World Water Ski Championship Bon Voyage party!
Come on out, play, sing, dance, and be merry! You know you want to be there!

On July 20th at 7:00 PM there will be music at The Snell Shell. Come help us welcome my good friends Mark and Connie Combs of Roadkill Custom Drums. These are friends from Dundee, FL and I’ve played with Mark many times!
They will be in Nashville for a drum convention. We had a lot of fun last summer when they were here! If you need anything in the way of custom drums, Mark can fix you up!
So, mark your calendars and plan on this great night of fun and music! A BIG TIME will be had by all!
