We loooved getting to know Ella’s family over the spring as they hashed out details for her grad party. It turned out so pretty and had such a fun atmosphere, totally fitting for Ella and family!
We can only hope they’ll be back for her wedding, ha!

Lots of action at the Claymore lately!
Hosted this lovely shower for an awaiting arrival the other weekend. They had a crocheted tablecloth made by a beloved grandmother to hold cupcakes on ❤️
So sweet!
Our space can hold a lot of people for large events, but we are able to make smaller events cozy and intimate as well!
First communion party last weekend was the cutest! ❤️🙏
Such a kind, warm family we loved hosting them 🥰
And now for the hallway bathroom, one of 3 full baths in the upstairs loft at the Claymore.

We had a fun party last weekend at the Claymore and the client so generously left us these beautiful mums. I think they play off very well with our indoor mural and the natural light that falls into the indoor space!

How it went vs. How it’s going
1 year ago today we exchanged vows at the Claymore, the first wedding to take place in the courtyard! You can’t tell from the photo but this part and the side yard were the only completed parts at the time.
Myself and the wedding party had to be careful navigating the construction inside before walking down the aisle 😂
It was all worth it.
1 year of marriage to my best friend, the Claymore completed, and a ton of ups and downs that made us grow so much in our love with each other and with God.
We are here to serve you, and to serve Muskegon so that you may have the unforgettable experience we had, in this very special place in downtown Muskegon.
When we first stumbled upon the Claymore, or 165 W Clay Avenue as it was known to us then, it was a sad place that hadn’t been shown any love in a decade.
We saw it’s bare bones and knew it could be a place where people can celebrate joyous beginnings and milestones.
It is now a place for love.

We love how .cobb ‘s art has the outdoor mural’s noir version, perfect for when the sun is setting and night begins.

At dusk, the Claymore and her lights seem to come alive. It’s our favorite part of the day for this venue, for sure.

The Claymore is an event venue, BUT with an upstairs 3bd 3bath apartment with an open floor concept. Location is key - right in downtown Muskegon and a stones throw to the farmers market, the Cheese Lady, Nipotes, Aldea, etc. 10 mins to the famed Pere Marquette beach and The Deck!
Notice the doggy in the first pic? Pets are allowed! The yard is fully enclosed as long as we latch the front gate 🐶

A cloudy evening light isn’t the best lighting - but the main living space and kitchen area of the upstairs loft is pretty much 95% done! All that’s left is a few furniture pieces and kitchenware.
It feels so good to see this space pretty much completed!

The loft will be available for rent to stay in, for small events such as wedding and baby showers, bday parties, dinner parties, etc.
It’s also a great place for the bridal party to stay for the wedding downstairs!
We chose the courtyard to be the spot for our ceremony when we got married at the Claymore back in September. We loved the idea of greenery surrounding these windows, serving as the backdrop for our reception as well.
We do not know the story of these windows..but would like to find out how they got there, and what their view used to be..check our stories to see the before!😱
Whatever kind of structure the windows used to belong to, we are sure glad they are a part of the Claymore. They add something unique to the courtyard, and they can be dressed up in any way for your special event!

Love this black and white vista of the side yard of the Claymore. Our building is to the right, and to the left you can see the mural done by .cobb, a green space great for cocktail hour, and the courtyard follows to the back of the photo where we held our ceremony and reception.
We had someone ask us if we hold graduation parties - we absolutely do! The outdoor area would be perfect for it.
That being said, we’ll be posting our favorite photos of the outdoor space this week, in honor of our anticipation for spring!

One of our favorite parts of the Claymore is the 3 bedroom, 3 full bathroom loft apartment on the second floor of the venue.
The apartment has an open concept design - we preserved original details like the wooden beams and ceilings while adding modern touches and appliances.
It’s the perfect place for the bride and groom to spend their first night as a married couple, for the bridal party to get ready for the big day, for wedding showers, baby showers, dinner parties, bachelor parties - and you can even just stay and enjoy all of what Muskegon had to offer!
It’s also our favorite place to work so we can open up this special place for all 🥰

In love with our recently completed indoor mural by @jm.cobb. We wanted a “noir” version of the outdoor mural he did for the Claymore and we couldn’t be happier with the result.
