After 43 years of delivering exceptional catering services, Elaine Bell Catering (EBC) will be closing its doors at the end of 2024. Founders Elaine Bell and John Merritt officially informed their employees of their decision on August 27, 2024.

“As we enter this new chapter of our lives, we are eager to embrace our personal passions and retirement goals. While the challenges of running a business in California have been significant, they have also been a testament to our resilience and dedication over the years.”

Since its founding in 1981, Elaine Bell Catering has been a leader in the Wine Country culinary scene, renowned for its innovative cuisine, impeccable service, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Over the past four decades, EBC has had the honor of being part of countless celebrations, from intimate gatherings to grand events, always striving to exceed client expectations.

Elaine Bell Catering has always believed in giving back to the community that supported its growth. Over the years, EBC has partnered with numerous local charities, provided meals for community events, and supported local farmers and suppliers. Their commitment to sustainability and local sourcing has not only elevated their cuisine but also strengthened the local economy. “We are incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished over the past four decades,” said John Merritt. “We’ve had the privilege of being part of many celebrations and events, and we are grateful to our clients, partners, and employees for their unwavering support.”  Elaine Bell added, “I will miss partnering with the many organizations that allowed me to add my special nuances to their gala events. They showed such gratitude and appreciation. It was a joy for me.”  We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey with us. Your support has made all the difference, and we will cherish these memories forever.  Elaine Bell Catering will continue to honor all existing commitments through the end of the year and a few select events in 2025.
