Next month, the Chicago Sinfonietta returns to campus with their performance "Culture Chronicles" in the Wentz Concert Hall! Gabriela Lena Frank’s "Elegia Andina (Andean Elegy)" brings her Peruvian upbringing to life through indigenous instruments. Juan Pablo Contreras pays heartfelt tribute to Dia de los Mu***os and Mexican traditions in "Alma Monarca (Monarch Soul)", a Sinfonietta co-commission and Chicago Premiere. The evening culminates with Dvořák’s cheerful "Symphony No. 8", a celebration of nature and Bohemian folk music.
