Women’s History Month: raising girls to be brave, strong, confident, and to break the gender bias that leads to a toxic culture. I’ve(Jodi Caruso)tried to be a role model for my daughters, to show them they are capable, powerful and to build their confidence. I’ve tried to support them in making positive choices and to believe in themselves and to take care of themselves. To be caring, considerate humans being while not compromising their self.
I am not perfect. I’ve made many mistakes. But in a world where the patriarchal society needs to find harmony for a more peaceful existence, I believe they and their contemporaries will change society so that women and men will enjoy the same opportunities and rights. To all you wonderful women,

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your participation and support of the first Naples Women’s Weekend. We are so proud of all of you! The feedback has been astoundingly positive.

Women came to Naples from Pennsylvania , Rochester, Syracuse, and all over the Finger Lakes Region!

Thank you to all of the volunteers that showed up to help. Thank you to all the local businesses that donated raffle items, and basket prizes. Thank you to all the participating businesses and to all the participants!

We will be sending out a mail chimp survey to help us as we plan next year’s weekend! Yes, this has become the 1st Annual Women’s Weekend! Please take a few minutes to complete the survey when you receive it.

Although this started as a small seed to help drive revenue(which it did) and to celebrate Women’s History Month(which we did) it became so much more! The networking, collaboration, and new bonds created are an absolute bonus!

Thank you from the bottom of our heart for honoring women in your unique offerings. May we continue to close the gap in gender equality in the workplace and in our society.

LOCAL WOMEN IN HISTORY
JANE LOOMIS
MARCH WOMENS HISTORY MONTH 2024
Jane (Bailey) Loomis was born in Otisco NY in 1927 along with her identical twin Betty. Given up at birth they resided in the Onondaga Children’s Orphanage. Jane was adopted in Oct 1930 by Glenn and Bertha (Warren) Loomis.Her sister went to the Marte’ family in Manlius NY
Encouraged at an early age by her parents she became an outstanding artist in school. If you’ve been to the main office of the Naples High School you will have seen her large mural “Naples and Vicinity” she painted while a junior. Her high school art was shown and awarded at the annual Sibley Lindsay and Curr Art Exhibition.
She graduated magna cm laude from Syracuse University School of Visual Arts in 1949. For

25 years her paintings graced institutions, Town Halls and private collections throughout Ontario and Monroe County. She is considered the foremost painter of her time.
She moved back to Naples in 1972 and lived here until her untimely death in 2000. She is interned at Rose Ridge Cemetery.
