Our kids and families had a GREAT time at the annual Nutcracker performance at TPAC. For some families, receiving these tickets has become a yearly tradition and we are so grateful to be able to help coordinate a special night out. A wonderful job to ALL our performers last week! We had a bit of a bittersweet end to the Holiday recitals as everyone played wonderfully, but it was Mr. Jonah's last in-person W.O. Smith show. Thank you to Jonah for 30 years of service to this amazing place. You will be greatly missed!! Be sure to send him well wishes in his Vermont ventures!

We are so proud of W.O. Smith alumni Jamye and Austin Willé, who have shown the incredible power of music in overcoming life’s challenges. When their daughter, Akemi, was born prematurely, they leaned on their music background and tapped into music therapy to get them through her long stay in the NICU.

Mark your calendars for next week! We have three nights of holiday shows to cap off 2024! All evenings will include special performances by student soloists as well as: Monday will be performances by the W.O. Smith choirs and StringSmiths; Tuesday will include performances by the W.O. Smith Rock Band, Motown Band, and Jazz Band; And finally, we'll have both steel bands perform on Thursday. All shows will begin promptly at 7 pm and will be streamed online! See you next week! Having experienced the power of music in his own life, Dr. William Oscar Smith (1917-1991) dreamed of offering music instruction to children from low-income families so it might change their lives also. In 1984, this dream became a reality when the W.O. Smith Music School first opened its doors. Since then, thousands of at-risk children in the metropolitan Nashville area have been introduced to the world of music. Located in the historic Edgehill neighborhood, W.O. Smith serves over 500 students annually with the support of over 200 volunteer teaching artists from the community.
