LightsOut Events began as LightsOut Booking when a small and unique Nashville all-ages venue, The MUSE, needed help with booking after the opening of Rocketown threatened to put them out of business in early 2005. The very first LightsOut Event was held at The MUSE at 835 4th Avenue South on Friday, April 22nd, 2005. That show featured a then fairly well known Grunge Rock group, Split Nixon, from Ashland Kentucky. At that show, the venue saw attendance numbers and bar sales that it had not seen in months. Soon after that, the local Nashville venue extended an offer to the brand new booking company to permanently help them with their event calendar.
In the years to follow, LightsOut booked solely for The MUSE. That was not part of the agreement, but the company was determined to keep the venue on the map, therefor refused to book for any other venues in Nashville. Sadly, the venue that some called the CBGB of Nashville was forced to close its doors for good on May 31st, 2012. That was the end of days for The MUSE, but it was not the end of LightsOut Events. LightsOut booked its first show outside The MUSE at The End later that year. The company's first attempt at giving back to the community, a benefit concert for St. Jude Children"s Research Hospital, held at The MUSE in November 2010, was a disappointment, raising less than $100 for the hospital. Technically, a year got lost in the numbers, but nevertheless, the 2nd Annual St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Benefit Concert, held at 12th & Porter on December 14th, 20 I 2 featuring Goodbye June, Stone Senate, The Pedal Stills, and Stone Cold Fire was a huge success. Following that success, LightsOut Events now donates to a different charity from the proceeds of every single show they produce.
LightsOut has worked with some artists that you, most likely, hadn't heard of at the time but probably have heard from since. These include such names as Coheed & Cambria, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, Blindside, and 30 Seconds to Mars. Then, there are those that may sound familiar, although you may have thought they were no longer around, such as Corrosion of Conformity, The Qu**rs, Green Jelly, Rock City Angels, and Flock of Seagulls. So, whether you're looking for the next "big thing," an underground "star," or just the best live music you've never heard, you can always find it here.
