Wilhagans Nashville Writers Night

Wilhagans Nashville Writers Night Wilhagans Writers Night, hosted by Kathy Hussey since 1992 ***How does it work?***

Every Sunday from 5:00-8:00 pm:

Campfire-circles every week!

Just show up with your guitar, join the circle, and whenever it comes around to you, you play a song, share a story, rave about how fun it all is. People who just want to listen, and not play, are always welcome to come sit in the circle with us. When it's warm enough, we're outside on the deck. When it's cold, we're in the cozy back room. The indoor version is non-smoking for your breathing pleas

ure. (Smokers can easily step into the main bar or the onto the patio to spark one up.) General Info:

Wilhagans Pub
314 Wilhagan Rd, Nashville, TN

Great food - homemade pizzas, salads,
sandwiches, and a wide variey of fried things. Excellent beer selection, and all the
liquor you'd ever need. Pool, darts, volleyball, bocce ball, video golf, etc...but we don't care about all that

It probably goes without saying that we won't be meeting this week. But here I am saying it! I'll see you next time, whenever that is. Please take care of yourselves, and change your clothes occasionally.

Non-essential? Never, in 27 years, have I described our writers night as THAT. I have described it as my church…and as fundamental to my well-being… But for now, I feel compelled to define it as non-essential in regards to limiting all “non-essential gatherings” and exercising “social distancing”. Such a bummer. What an overwhelmingly sad couple of weeks we have all had. I admit that my school residency in Virginia this past week was one of the sweetest and most soul-repairing experiences I can remember having with a group of kids. So I’m very grateful for that! Let’s take a couple weeks off, be gentle on ourselves, resist fear and panic, but act with caution. Much love!

I'm in Virginia to write songs with 3rd and 5th graders this week. I hope everyone within the reach of this email is safe and recovering from the terrifying events of last week. See you next Sunday!

Wow, it's March. Seems like February was extra long this year...like a WHOLE DAY.

Would love to see you tonight. We have another break next week because I'll be in Virginia doing a school program.

See you at 5:00!

02/23/2020

Is it Winter? Is it Spring?
Hard to tell...let's just sing!

A little poem I made up, all by myself. Come out to Wilhagans tonight won't you?

See you at 5:00!

02/16/2020

So...I got a bug...ugh. I'm gonna have to cancel the writers night tonight. Just when we thought the coast was clear after football season.

Sorry! I hope you're all in excellent health and that I'll see you next Sunday.

02/09/2020

Why should you come out and play tonight?
• Because there's a Super Moon hanging in the sky that MAY cause things to be a bit more magical than usual
• Because I have a new guitar and I want you to see it
• Because you may regret staying home, but you'll never regret being there
See you at 5:00!

02/02/2020

No writers night tonight on accounta the Big Football Game. Go sports teams!

See you next week.

01/26/2020

Back in the saddle this week, y'all! Very exciting out-of-town, even international, attendees to report. Dan Schaefer is visiting from his new home in Mexico, and our good friend and long-time regular, Teri Whealon will also be here. Can't wait!

Nothing next week...Super Bowl, ya know...

See you at 5:00.

01/19/2020

Whooo boy. No writers night Sun 1/19. Seems like there's been more football than usual this season. It's very exciting that the Titans are going to vie for a spot in the Big Game tomorrow! There will be legions of fans at Wilhagans for that and also the game immediately following, so it's best if we try not to play sensitive, lovingly-crafted songs with all that going on.

Please also brace yourselves for no writers night on Feb 2 - that's the Super Bowl, and the Mighty Titans will, no doubt, be on the field of battle.

Go Titans! See you next week!

01/12/2020

Wow, yesterday was a BIG day - saw the spectacular Hamilton at TPAC in the afternoon and then the Titans won the big football contest. The only thing that could make this weekend better is seeing you tonight at Wilhagans!

See you at 5:00? Yeah.

01/03/2020

I mentioned last week that I might have to cancel this Sunday, Jan 5, and that has come to pass. So the first gathering of the New Year will be next Sunday, January 12. Here's to the New Year - I hope yours is starting off on the right foot.

I'll probably post a reminder on Sunday to make sure everyone is aware of the change.

See you next week - January 12, 5:00-8:00.

12/29/2019

Wow, it's been two years...oh, wait...2 weeks...since the last writers night. Always feels a lot longer than that. This will be the last one in 2019, so come out and play!

I hope your holidays were merry and bright, and I truly hope I'll see you tonight :) 5:00-8:00.

12/21/2019

What with all the holiday comings and goings and so forth, there will be no writers night, tomorrow, 12/22. Definitely hoping to see you next week for the last writers night of 2019.

I hope your holidays are merry and bright!

12/15/2019

No writers night tonight because of Vikings game! Not sure yet about next week, 12/22, as many people have indicated they will be out of town. If anyone wants to weigh in with a definite yes or no, that would be helpful :)

Have a lovely Sunday.

12/08/2019

How about tonight? Wanna come out and play songs tonight? Sure you do! Next week we're off...so come on!

12/01/2019

You keep saying to yourself, "It happens every week, I can go next time." Well, cut that out and come this time! All we have is NOW. And we miss you.

See you tonight, right? 5:00-8:00, 314 Wilhagan Rd!

11/24/2019

"The best time to plant an oak tree is 25 years ago. The second best time is today." -James Carvill

I just really like that quote. Do you have a favorite? Maybe you have used it in a song. Come out tonight and let's sing about it : )

5:00-8:00 at the usual place!
