14 years ago Toby Keith wrote this song for an NBA star by the name of Wayman Tisdale who went on to become a legendary Jazz musician, but sadly died at the young age of 44 after a two year battle with Cancer. I wore that song out when it came out, as I was, and still am a huge fan of Wayman Tisdale's music. (Toby and Wayman also did an awesome version of Barry White's "Never Gonna Give You Up" (check it out, if you haven't heard it)).

I woke up this morning to the news that Toby Keith lost his two year battle to Cancer last night, so I think it's an appropriate song to be posted now for Toby, because, man, I can't say I haven't shed a few tears.

Rest easy Mr. Keith, "play it sweet in heaven, cause that's right where you want to be... I'm not cryin' cause I feel so sorry for you, I am cryin' for me" and the rest of the world that lost a great country artist. Enjoy that reunion with Wayman in Heaven...

I know it's been awhile since I released a new mix, but I PROMISE it's going to be worth the wait!! I thought my newest mix was complete, and my plan was to release it this past Monday.... but... yes BUT, following what I thought at the time was a finished mix, I listened a few more times and determined it didn't quite meet my criteria for something I wanted to release to the world, SO I decided to turn it up a notch and add A LOT more production!

DJ Special Ed's Pop Rock Mashup Mixtape - No Shoes Edition....

I know it's a little bit late with summer being about over... but hey, I've never been one to conform to deadlines, besides, in my opinion, the songs in this mix are timeless and great anytime!

Now, A little story behind this mix...

Driving Uber, which I currently do to make a living, I find myself listening to Kenny Chesney's No Shoes Radio on Sirius/XM quite a bit.... in fact, my radio is pretty much always tuned to it when I'm in my truck, which is a LOT!

Aside from being a big Kenny Chesney fan for years, I love the eclectic selection of songs that are included in the programming... everything from Reggae, ska and surf music, to 70's, 80's, 90's and 2000's rock, to classic soul as well as some classic and new country. Then you have great classic singer/songwriter tunes and all those beachy vibe songs.... you even hear an occasional old-school R&B/Hip Hop song thrown in to keep it interesting! ...and of course, being Kenny's Radio Station, you also get all the great Kenny songs!

This mix is based on that programming, and includes a little taste of everything mentioned, of course with some DJ Special Ed mixing and mashing to add a little spice to it and keep it interesting! It's a mix that's great for when you're road trippin', out on the boat, at the beach, tailgating, bar-b-queuing, working, working out or even out on a run... literally anywhere!
