Calling all High School 4-H and FFA Grimes County Fair exhibitors!!

The Grimes County Fair Rodeo and Buckout committee invites all current Grimes County Fair participants in the 9th thru 12th grade to participate in a calf scramble on June 1, 2024.

To be eligible you must be in good standings in your local FFA chapter or 4-H club and be a participant in the 2024 Grimes County Fair. The first 40 kids to enter on ShoWorks will be accepted and all entries must be received by May 6th. There is no entry fee to enter but you must be submit an entry form online.

Mutton Bustin and Stick Horse Sign ups are now open!!! These events is held outside in the rodeo arena the night of the bull buck out, please be sure to select the correct one when signing up online.

Stick Horse Riding and Mutton Bustin

Stick Horse – $15.00 entry fee

Mutton Bustin ‐ $30.00 entry fee

No Late Entries – No Exceptions-No Refunds

Rules:

Stick Horse: Contestants must be a Grimes County Resident. Ages for this event are 2 – 4 years of age. There will be a champion and reserve champion in each group. Entry fee non-refundable.

Mutton Bustin: Ages for this event are 5 – 8 years of age, out of county contestants accepted. Their weight must not exceed 60 lbs. Protective Helmets Must Be Worn and Weight Limit will be enforced!!!

Limited number of entries will be accepted

ATTENTION PARENTS: For the stick horse one parent may walk child into arena but will need to exit the arena immediately before any contest will begin. Only one parent/adult will be allowed in the arena with each child during the mutton bustin event. A member of the rodeo committee will inform each participant and parent/adult when they will be allowed to enter the arena. This rule will be enforced without exception!

DRESS CODE: Must wear long sleeve button down/snap shirt, jeans, belt and boots. No dresses, tennis shoes, chukka boots, shorts, Capri pants or short sleeve shirts will be permitted. No caps or visors. This dress attire will be mandatory and has been adopted for the safety of the children and to promote the western/rodeo theme. If you are not in dress code you will not enter the arena.

Got a dog crazy kiddo in your life? Bring them to the dog show! For the first time ever there will be a p*e wee show in the Brazos Valley!

At noon on Saturday, 3/16, any kid between the ages of 5 and 9 can come try their hand at showing a dog. It’s free to enter and promises to be a ton of fun.

Everyone will get a rosette and a goody bag and will be invited to join the other kids, their judge, and club members for a celebration ice cream sandwich social afterwards!

Don’t have a show dog? No big deal! We can match the kids with kid friendly dogs of all shapes and sizes!

Sign up before noon at the show and give your kid an experience they’ll remember forever!

Swine exhibitors

Reminder Tag in is Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at the Grimes County Fairgrounds

***Swine entries are $15 PER TAG and must be paid that night.

Online entries for swine are available at the link on the fair website or found below and MUST be completed by March 21, 2024 (midnight) You must wait to complete ShoWorks after tag in so you have tag numbers available to enter on ShoWorks.

In ShoWorks you will complete entry, W9 and liability forms. You will NOT pay anything online as all entries will be collected at tag in
Upon completion you will receive a email receipt. When completing the W9 the social MUST Abe the exhibitors and entry and W9 need to be completed in the exhibitors legal name.
