Brides beware!
Copied from someone else:
I copied this from Lauren the coordinator. She posted this warning other brides! I was a guest at the wedding and was helping lauren throughout. I witnessed this all first hand! DO NOT BOOK WITH HIM!
‼️ IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL BRIDES & WEDDING VENDORS ‼️
DO NOT HIRE DJ NICK CATALINA.
If you are a bride or wedding vendor looking for a professional, reliable DJ, stay far away from Nick Catalina. I have never encountered someone as unprofessional, disrespectful, and outright dangerous as him. He completely derailed a couple’s wedding day that I was coordinating with his behavior, and I strongly urge anyone planning an event to avoid him at all costs.
Nick was contracted to arrive at 3:00 PM, an hour and a half before the ceremony. Despite repeated attempts to contact him, he ignored almost every call. He finally answered a bridesmaid’s call, claiming he was only 15 minutes away. An hour later, he was still nowhere to be found. He finally picked up my call at 4:15 PM—just 15 minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to begin—saying he’d be there in 13 minutes.
When he finally arrived, instead of acknowledging his extreme lateness and rushing to set up, he brushed it off with a joke, saying, “90% of weddings start late, so we’re fine.” As a coordinator, I take pride in keeping weddings on schedule, so I told him I wasn’t concerned with other weddings—I was focused on making this one run as planned. Rather than getting to work, he walked outside to chat casually with some men near his truck, ignoring the urgency of the situation.
When I asked him to stop socializing and focus on setting up, he mocked me, saying, “Oh here she goes, talking sh*t.” I had never met or spoken to him before that day, so this hostility was completely unprovoked. As I turned to go back inside, he physically slammed the venue’s heavy glass-and-wood door in my face, hitting me in the nose. A groomsman and my husband immediately stepped in as Nick began threatening to leave, claiming I was the problem.
At that point, we had to move forward without him. We used a Bluetooth speaker and a phone to run the ceremony music, while he wasted even more time attempting to set up in a restricted loft area that the venue had deemed unsafe. Despite this, he still couldn’t get his equipment to work.
During the ceremony, he loudly shouted out commands at the wrong times, disrupting key moments. When he mistakenly announced for the guests to rise too early, I had to correct him, and instead of apologizing, he laughed about it. His complete disregard for the couple’s special moment was appalling.
Things escalated when guests attempted to help him fix his equipment, and he began making violent threats, saying he would shoot them and the venue. At that point, we had no choice but to call the sheriff for the safety of everyone present. While we waited for law enforcement to arrive, Nick shamelessly helped himself to the wedding dinner—despite not having done his job at all.
When the sheriff arrived, Nick saw us speaking with them and attempted to flee out the back door. However, his truck was stuck in the mud, preventing his escape. Officers ensured he packed up his gear and escorted him off the property.
Final Verdict:
If you are a bride, wedding planner, photographer, caterer, or vendor, do not hire or work with Nick Catalina. He is completely unreliable, will ignore your timeline, and will create unnecessary stress and chaos on an already important day. Worst of all, he is a safety risk to your event and guests.
Brides, if your venue, planner, or photographer warns you about this DJ, listen to them. He will ruin your wedding day. Avoid him at all costs.
