🏆 Congratulations to the 2025 Mr Nederland 🏆

The Nederland Heritage Festival is proud to announce Mr. Jimmy Collins as the 2025 Mr. Nederland.

Jimmy is a lifelong resident of Nederland and is the son of James and Elizabeth Collins. He graduated from Nederland High School in 1976 and had a forty-year career with Motion Industries in Port Arthur working in sales, before retiring in 2017.

Jimmy has been active in organized baseball nearly his entire life, beginning with playing at Nederland Little League and Nederland Babe Ruth Baseball and Senior Babe Ruth Leagues before moving a coaching role for nearly fifty years. While playing in the Senior Babe Ruth division, Jimmy began coaching at Nederland Babe Ruth 13-15 division, at age eighteen. He coached many years at Nederland Babe Ruth at Bob Harmon Park before moving over to the Senior Babe Ruth 16-18 division at Metreyeon Delahoussaye Field around 1990. Since that time, he has continued to be a coach in senior division each summer, has coached numerous state and regional championship all-star teams, and has served as President of the Mid-County Senior Babe Ruth League for many seasons.

In 2023, Jimmy and his leadership team incorporated the Nederland Babe Ruth 13-15 age division into Mid-County Babe Ruth to establish one combined league. Mid-County Babe Ruth has partnered with Adaptative Sports for Kids (A.S.K.) to help make improvements to Bob Harmon Park, so that kids with all abilities can enjoy the game of baseball as well as other sports. During baseball season, you can often find Jimmy stocking the concession stand, serving as groundskeeper, and keeping the scorebook at either Metreyeon Delahoussaye Field or at Bob Harmon Park. In 2014, Jimmy was inducted into the Babe Ruth Baseball Southwest Regional Hall of Fame for his many years of service and dedication to Babe Ruth Baseball. He was also part of the coaching staff that won the 16-18-year-old Babe Ruth World Series. Jimmy also volunteers each fall to coach the Nederland High School Fall League Baseball Team.

Jimmy has been married to his wife Pam for 45 years and they have three married children and five grandchildren: Justin & Keri Collins (Levi and Jack), Kaye & Todd Guidry (Collins and Miles), Cameron & Courtney Collins (Kirby). When it's not baseball season, you can find Jimmy supporting the Bulldog Football Program, playing golf, and spending time with his grandkids at many of their activities.

Jimmy would like to thank all former and current players and coaches who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the league provides the best opportunities for kids to play the game of baseball. His motto for all these years has been to keep kids on the field playing the game of baseball and off the streets.

It's a Classic! That is exactly what this person is to our organization.

IN 2025, THE NEDERLAND HERITAGE FESTIVAL WOULD LIKE TO HONOR JOE HOWERTON 🎖️

Joe became involved with our organization in our Grounds Department in 2003. To be a part of our grounds crew it takes dedication and hard work, which are two words that perfectly encapsulates Joe as a person. Joe soon became the chairman of grounds in 2005, and began serving on the Executive Board in 2013. Not only has Joe volunteered in our grounds department, you will often see him assisting our Friends of the Festival Chairmen, Transportation Chairmen, and many more.

Joe and Lynette have been married for 37 years and are proud parents of three married children, who have gifted them with five incredible grandchildren.
Some of Joe's favorite hobbies include grilling and relaxing in his pool, all while creating unforgettable memories with his grandkids.

Joe, we would like to personally THANK YOU for all of your commitment and dedication to the Nederland Heritage Festival. Your loyalty to this organization does not go unnoticed. Your dedication to the NHF and its mission has been a source of inspiration for everyone who has had the privilege to work along side of you.
