The opening act for The Alice Howe Band & Freebo will be the Needham High School Chorale, directed by Jonathan VanderWoude. This is an auditioned choir of 21 students in grades 10-12. In 2024 the NHS Chorale earned a Gold medal at the MICCA, a regional adjudication festival. In 2023 they earned the Overall Choir Award at the Festivals of Music adjudication in Washington DC.

The Great Hall Performance Foundation, Inc. supports the excellent music programs in the Needham Public Schools, including showcasing student musicians and making an annual donation to the Fine and Performing Arts Department. This year, they are raising funds for students and teachers in the high school’s voice and instrument programs to participate in a trip to Italy, where they will be performing in local venues.

On November 2nd, Americana music lovers are in for a treat when we bring The Alice Howe Band, featuring Freebo, to the Needham stage. This is not a show to be missed!

Alice grew up in Newton, MA and is a rising star in the music world. She was named the Best Female Artist at the 2023 International Acoustic Music Awards. Freebo's career includes working with numerous big name musicians like Jackson Browne and Ringo Starr, and touring with Bonnie Raitt for a decade. Under the direction of Spencer Parrish, the NHS Jazz Ensemble is a two-time gold medalist big band, earning those top honors at the Massachusetts Association for Jazz Education (MAJE) State Finals in 2023 and 2024. The group comprises 23 students in grades 9-12 who are selected through an annual audition process.
