A lot of work goes into our gardens, and it was nice to have a couple extra sets of hands today!
Dahlia duty has been kicking my butt, amongst juggling everything else that needs to be done around here. Ginger and Amy came to the rescue today, digging dahlias as well as Amy completely digging up and dividing our peony row 😳 We have so many new peony plants now! It's going to be so exciting to see them all in bloom. Thank you ladies for helping today!

The dahlia clumps in my story have been claimed! We are dividing a couple thousand clumps over the next few weeks and are planning to sell some bulk bags of mixed tubers. Keep an eye out in our stories for more to come!

Hello Everyone! I know I already announced the ending to our field season, but I have been getting so many phone calls and messages looking for fresh flowers, that I have decided to make some fresh flower bouquets up for the cart!
We have a limited supply, but are planning on having them out this afternoon, Friday and Saturday.
**** I would like to note, that we aren't a traditional florists, so unfortunately we cannot make deliveries***

And just like that...the season has come to a close. Jack frost visited last night and kissed our plants goodbye 😢

We are currently in the middle of our wedding season, which means we are busy, busy, busy! I am having a blast designing for our couples this year, and am loving all of the creative liberty I've been given.

Wooo! This weather needs to make up its mind! 😂 Because it is warmer than I was expecting today, the dahlias have been moved into the farm store. If you are looking for stems, please stop in there! ****Payments can be made at the flower cart***

Here are some dahlia facts/tips:

We pick our dahlias in the coolest parts of the day, these then get conditioned in our cooler overnight for ultimate rehydration. That's why we are able to keep them on the cart! We also will rotate/replace bouquets from our cooler to the cart throughout the day to keep them as fresh as possible 😊

-Dahlias like cool. I like to keep my vases of dahlias away from any direct sunlight in the house. They usually end up by my bedside table, kitchen island, my dining table, and their favorite spot, the bathroom near the sink 😂

- Dahlias have very thick stems. When you replace the water, you should keep an eye out at the bottom of the stems and trim anything that looks mushy. This will help them absorb water better!

-Speaking of water. If you have hard tap water, you might want to use filtered water (thank you fridge 🙌) Dahlias are sensitive to some minerals, and will wilt more quickly because of this.

One of the beautiful things about this farm is its intricate ecosystem, and I haven't seen any Praying Mantis so far this year. I've been bummed out and hoping I would see at least one, and this cutie showed up on my porch today. Off to the dahlia patch it goes. Hopefully, it will help with the bug pressure ❤️
