Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.... This is what I like to call a bubble nest. While part of the process of pouring resin, bubbles can be quite pesky to spot, tease out, and remove. I find that if I can group them into a big "nest", it's a lot easier to scoop out at once.#bridalbouquet #bouquet #wedding #floralpreservation #resinart #floralart #weddingflowers #newbraunfels #newbraunfelstx #newbraunfelswedding #newbraunfelsbride #hillcountrytx #hillcountrywedding #sanantoniotx #sanantonioweddings #sanantonioflorist #sanmarcostx #sanmarcostxweddings #weddingkeepsakes
This week's work in progress..... some of these floral blocks are only receiving a top coat. The others will need a topcoat for the bottom, but will need a flood coat for the top and sides.
Why top coat or flood coat? When the floral block is taken out of the mold, it is concaved and has very sharp edges (I've cut a finger before). To achieve the juicy rounded edges, you have to sand it down and cover the top with another layer of resin. For a flood coat, resin molds only last so long. After so many pours, the mold becomes dull leaving the floral block with a cloudy finish on the sides and bottom. Therefore you have to sand, top coat and then flood coat. It isn't the funnest process, but it is an absolute must to have a crystal clear finish!!!
