Let me start by saying that my heart is filled with love and awe at what we have accomplished. At times it can become lost on me in the midst of it all. Between the responsibilities and all-night jam sessions the line between work and fun can become very blurred. It always takes me some time before I realize just how amazing it all was, and I thank you all for being a part of such a wonderful experience.
We made it through our 5th annual In A Jam Down By The River without a hitch this past October and I never dreamed that we would have made it this far. Nor did I ever see myself as a festival promoter, which honestly is a title I do not much care for. Although I am many things, being a songwriter is what I truly love and enjoy more than anything.
With that being said, I want to propose an ultimatum. Many of you ask me every year whether or not I am going to continue to do the festival and that has become a much harder question to answer each year. I love what we have built and would hate to see it go away, but I am afraid that I am at the end of my rope. The financial and mental load that the past few years have put on me are just too much to handle at this point in time. With my songwriting, personal life, and creative work suffering I have decided to no longer do the festival.
That is if I cannot acquire a dedicated team by January 1st, 2025. I have had wonderful people by my side the past five years who have helped and done so much, and I appreciate you all dearly.
What I am needing now though is someone or a team of folks who can completely take over. I wouldn't be going away completely and can still advise/consult as needed. I just can't carry the load at this current time and need to step back.
If you, or anyone you know would be interested in working with us, please reach out to me personally or email "[email protected]" with resume and role interest.
If I cannot acquire the group of individuals needed to continue at this scale, we might just have to put a pin in it. That or maybe we go back to our roots and just have a jam down by the river with one another in fellowship.
I hope you all know that I love you. Without our artists, staff, volunteers, friends, family, customers, donors and sponsors this festival would have never been. For that, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Your friend,
Dustin Brown
