Thank you to everyone who came out to our Black History Month event. We were grateful to have amazing performances and stories. We are reminded of how much more work we have to do to make Rutgers, and especially Dem, a more accessible and equitable space for Black people and people of color. We would like to thank for collaborating with us. Verbal has meetings every Wednesday at 9 pm on College Ave, please check them out to see the amazing things they are doing!

We are especially grateful to our student/resident volunteer staff who made this possible…creating decorations, running sound, donating equipment, managing crowds, selling merch, setting up lighting, creating the stage, and much much more! Again, this was all done by RU Demarest students who just wanted to do it for the love of it!

Some say it takes a village—Demfest took a dorm.

Looking for a unique dorming experience at Rutgers?

If you enjoy the arts and humanities, check out Demarest Hall! Located on College Ave, Dem is home to a number of unique sections, rather than being a single-focus special interest dorm. These most recently included:

-Visual arts
-Cinema studies
-Feminism
-Improv/performing arts
-Religion, mythology, and spirituality
-Black & Brown Student Liberation (which discusses current cultural and social issues)
-Music
-S*x, sexuality and gender
-History and political science
-Philosophy
-Creative writing
-Anime

We are known for hosting events throughout the year as well, including coffee houses, art shows, drag shows, watch parties, live music, and more!

We are so excited to announce Demarest’s first ever mini music festival on April 22nd! One day, eight bands, all for free in good ol’ New Brunswick!

Come spend the day on CA listening to music from your favorite local and touring bands! Bring a blanket, lawn chair, or simply your dancing shoes!
