Ruby R Scott is an artist-owner of Arts a Daisy Gallery LLC, Suite 114, in the Silos Building of Sawyer Yards, Houston. She specializes in large acrylic paintings. She has an eclectic taste in art, displayed in her wide range of artworks: abstract, figurative-abstract fusion, impressionism, realism, modern, and contemporary styles. Ruby’s enthusiasm for art revolves around her desire to spread joy through her paintings. It’s wonderful when people feel as passionate about art as she does. She is the happiest when she sees a collector make a solid connection to an art piece, and it finds its forever home, where it can pass on the joy she received while creating it. Melissa Osburg is a self-taught abstract mixed media artist from New Orleans; currently, residing in the Lone Star state. Melissa’s work is hand-painted, unique and emotionally driven. In 2016, Melissa began painting as a type of art therapy. It was her own personal experience with anxiety that has led her to paint abstracts, and now with a twist of Mixed Media. Melissa primarily paints with acrylics and oil; but has experimented with watercolor, resin and oil pastels.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴛʀɪᴜᴍ ᴄᴇɴᴛᴇʀ ᴀʀᴛ ꜰᴇᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ: Mary Wilks graduated from the University of Houston with a BFA in Painting/Drawing, cm laude. She has published a children’s book titled, A Bedtime Cat Story, and is currently finding a publisher for her new children’s book. In 2022, Mary created illustrations for another author in Alabama. She has been married for 39 years and has three grown children and one grandson. Besides painting, illustrating, and writing, Mary loves to garden and create mosaic garden statues.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴛʀɪᴜᴍ ᴄᴇɴᴛᴇʀ ᴀʀᴛ ꜰᴇᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ: Mandy Yates is a Conroe-based artist, specializing in custom memorials and functional mosaics made of stained glass and concrete. She is extremely passionate about her job and comforting others through her artwork. She also likes to focus on combining functionality and art, whether it is a bench, a bird bath, or a stepping stone…her art is made to live on, hopefully beyond her, and continue to serve others and make the world a little brighter.

ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴛʀɪᴜᴍ ᴄᴇɴᴛᴇʀ ᴀʀᴛ ꜰᴇᴀᴛᴜʀᴇ: Growing up in New Orleans, Julia Koutroulis - Artist was inspired by the artists in the French Quarter and dreamed of being one, too. Although time passed and life took a different direction, Julia never forgot that dream. After her husband passed away unexpectedly, she started painting again. My uncle, Aris Koutroulis, a successful artist in New York, became a new source of inspiration and encouragement. When he passed away on the same day she received her first award, Julia knew she had to keep painting and continue the Koutroulis legacy. Her favorite subject has always been people, particularly children, but Julia's paintings strive to capture more than just a likeness.

Jenny is a passionate and visionary artist, who brings creativity and emotion to the canvas. With a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world and an insatiable curiosity, Jenny draws inspiration from nature, human experience, and the intricacies of everyday life.

Artist feature: Heather Newsom is a professional photographer residing in Kingwood, Texas, and owns Native Seven Photography. Heather’s work is mostly portraiture; focusing on families, high school and college seniors, and business headshots. Her first love, however, is landscape and still life photography and her style of art is mostly moody with velvet tones achieved in post-production. Heather volunteers in the community as a member of the Photo Team at her church. Heather uses a variety of lenses in her work from long telephoto to macro to wide angle for digital photography. Heather is the mother of three adult children and the wife of a local healthcare architect.

The Atrium Center was proud to hold an event on Aug. 9 for Texas Governor Greg Abbott in conjunction with the signing of historic legislation offering property tax relief and school property tax rate cuts. Gov. Abbott was joined by Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Speaker Dade Phelan, State Sen. Paul Bettencourt, State Rep. Morgan Meyer and other members of the Texas Legislature.
