So excited to have American musician/singer music collaborate with Boysie Cekwana at this year's in "...on behalf of a collective sigh".

Maritri is an independent artist with a diverse musical background who is
also a highly regarded sound healer and educator. She plays piano, guitar, bass, cello and percussion. She holds a BA in biology from Fisk University as well as a BSc in composition and an MFA in jazz studies from Howard University. As a composer, she has composed music for dance, theater, apps, The Soulfolk Experience and her solo projects. She has worked as coach to Mary J Blige. She has sung back-up for Barbra Streisand and Michael Amante, opened for Gladys Knight, the five blind boys of Alabama, the Pharcyde, the Indigo Girls, Ani DiFranco, Nona Hendryx and shared stages with Patti LaBele, Valerie Simpson, and Meshell Ndege Ocello to name a few.

Performance date: 3 & 4 September at 7pm - Sneddon Theatre

Workshop: 4 September 10:30-12:00
Venue: UKZN Jazz Centre/Bongani Mthethwa Room MARITRI GARRET (America)

Vox - A performance workshop connecting the voice to lyrics and meaning of a song. Participants should prepare a song and be ready to perform
it. Maritri will help with connecting the singer's voice and emotions to the sung lyrics.
