🟑🟣🟒🟑🟒🟣🟑🟒🟣🟑🟒🟣

Ingredients:
*2 boxes frozen puff pastry sheets (2 sheets per box) Note: We will use 3 sheets.
*olive oil
*6 petite filet mignon steaks
*prosciutto
*Italian cheese(shredded)
*salt/black pepper

Mushroom Mixture:
*3 tablespoons butter
*1 small yellow onion(diced)
*8 oz baby Bella mushrooms(chopped)
*4 tsp garlic(minced)
*1/2 cup red wine
*1 tsp fresh basil(chopped)

Egg Wash:
*2 eggs
*1 tablespoon water

Toppings:
*mustard sauce(see ingredients below)
*fried prosciutto(chopped)
*green onions(chopped)

Mustard sauce:
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon deli mustard
3 tablespoons sour cream
3 tablespoons mayo
1/2 tsp minced garlic
salt/pepper

Thaw out 3 sheets of frozen puff pastry dough on the counter for about 45 minutes. After thawed, unfold and cut along the seams making 3 strips per sheet. We only use 8 strips of dough out of the 9. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Saute onions and mushrooms in the butter. Add the garlic, basil, and wine. Stir. Once the wine is cooked out, remove from heat. This takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Set aside.

Arrange your strips of dough on a slightly greased round 16in pizza pan. (See picture in comments)

Coat 6 petite filet mignon steaks with a small amount of olive oil, then season with salt and pepper on both sides. Sear each side on a skillet using a little more olive oil. The steaks will continue to cook in the oven.

In the middle of the arranged dough, place a layer of prosciutto down first, then the mushroom mixture, shredded Italian cheese next, then the steaks. Make egg wash by beating 2 eggs with 1 tablespoon of water. Spread egg wash on the top inside center of the dough. Fold pastry strips over and press down on the egg washed dough in the center. Press all seams together. Spread egg wash over the dough. Using a knife, poke small holes on top going around the top of the pastry dough. This helps release steam. Bake for about 40 minutes. Baking times may vary. Once out the oven, let rest for about 10 minutes. Drizzle with mustard sauce, then top with pieces of fried prosciutto(a little olive oil and chopped prosciutto in a skillet), and chopped green onions to create those festive Mardi Gras colors. πŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’š Note: Baking times may vary depending on the size of the steaks you use, but it will take the pastry about 40 minutes to cook. The petite filet mignon steaks work well.

πŸ’—Cream Cheese stuffed Cinnamon Roll CupsπŸ’—

Ingredients:
1 can of cinnamon rolls(not Grands)
chocolate syrup(topping)
pink and red sugar crystals(topping)

Cream Cheese Filling:
1 block of softened cream cheese
1/2 to 3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
1/4 cup milk

πŸ’ŸπŸ©·β€οΈUse a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, not the Grands. Dust a rolling pin with flour, then with the cinnamon side facing down, roll out each peice of dough, keeping its circular shape. Lightly grease the inserts of a cupcake pan. Press the dough into each insert with the cinnamon side facing upward. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Take them out of the oven, then use the bottom of a tablespoon to press the bottom and sides of the rising dough. You want them to go back to a cup shape. Put back in the oven for about 4 or 5 more minutes. Cooking times may vary. Remove from the oven, and press the dough on the sides and bottom again. Let cool. Mix together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk to make the filling. Fill the cups with the cream cheese mixture. In a microwaveable bowl, heat the icing/glaze that comes with the cinnamon rolls in the microwave for a few seconds, just until it gets warm. Drizzle the icing and chocolate syrup on top. Sprinkle with pink and red sugar crystals to give your sweet treats that festive Valentine look. ❀️🩷πŸ₯°

Make your own Mardi Gras themed cupcakes! Seperate your vanilla or white cake batter into three bowls. Add a few drops of green food coloring to one bowl, purple to the second one, and yellow/gold to the third, then mix each one. Fill your cupcake pans with Mardi Gras themed liners. Fill each liner halfway using spoonfuls of all three colors. Bake, then let cool. You can top them with buttercream icing along with purple, green, and gold sugar crystals or leave them plain. πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’›

🀍🀍DIY Marshmallow Fondant 🀍🀍

1 1/2 bags white mini marshmallows(10oz bags)
2 tablespoons of water
1 tsp clear vanilla extract
1 tsp clear almond extract
2 lb bag powdered sugar
Crisco shortening

Grease a microwaveable bowl and spoon with Crisco shortening using a paper towel. Put marshmallows, water, and extracts into the bowl and microwave for one minute. Mix with the greased spoon. Heat another minute then stir. While melting marshmallows, grease the inside of a stand up mixer bowl and the flat be**er with solid crisco. Put the powdered sugar in the bowl, and using your fist make a hole in the sugar. Carefully pour your melted marshmallow mixture into the powder sugar, and mix using the stand up mixer. I use a towel to cover the mixer while mixing to avoid a mess. You may have to wash then grease your hands and finish mixing it by hand. If your fondant starts to harden while mixing, heating it for about 20 to 30 seconds in the microwave in a greased microwaveable bowl will help soften it. Don't over heat. Wrap in seran wrap until ready to use. Do not store in the fridge. If you are adding food color, or when you are ready to use the fondant you will need to warm it again in the microwave just until it's warm and workable. Keep checking it, you don't want to over heat it. I recommend using disposable food gloves that have been greased when dying the fondant.

πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘This savory and sweet King Cake is topped with crushed Pork Skins and a Jalapeno infused Maple Syrup drizzleπŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘

2 cans of crescent rolls
crushed pork skins (topping)
1 tablespoon of melted butter(topping)
10 to 12 fried chicken tenders, chopped

Praline filling:
1 stick of butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup maple syrup

Jalapeno infused Maple Syrup:
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 of a whole jalapeno(deseeded)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spray a foil or parchment paper lined 16in round pizza pan. Make a circle with crescent rolls by placing the wide end next to the rim and the point towards the middle. Pinch the center of the seams on the crescent rolls together. Do not press and pinch the ends because we will fold them up and around the filling.

To make the Praline filling, mix a melted stick of butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup of maple syrup, and 1 cup of chopped pecans in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, and let cook for one minute, stirring. After 1 minute of boiling, remove from heat. Let cool about 25 minutes, stirring every once in a while until it thickens. While the praline filling is cooling, chop 10 to 12 fried chicken tenders.

Put a layer of cooled praline filling in the center of the crescent rolls where you pinched the seams. Don't use all of the filling, save some to put on top of the chicken. Next, add a layer of cooked chopped fried chicken, and then top with a little more filling. Fold crescent roll ends up and around the chicken and filling. Try not to have any holes. Spread 1 tablespoon of melted butter on the top of the dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 22 minutes.

While it's baking, heat 1/2 cup of maple syrup with 1/2 of a whole jalapeno in a sauce pan on top of the stove. Cook on medium low heat for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.

Take the king cake out of the oven and drizzle the jalapeno infused maple syrup on top(remove jalapeno), then top with crushed pork skins. I usually don't use all of the syrup. Don't put too much, just drizzle it. Enjoy!

πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘πŸ‘‘King Cake CrackπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’œ

*Saltine crackers (about 42)
*1 1/8 cup light brown sugar
*1 cup + 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
*1 tsp. cinnamon

Glaze:
*4 cups powdered sugar
*dash of salt
*1 tsp. cinnamon
*6 to 8 tablespoons hot water(may need more)
*1 to 2 tsp. almond extract(you could also use 1 tsp of vanilla & 1 tsp of almond)
*1 cup melted white chocolate chips
*1/4 cup light corn syrup

*chopped pecans (topping)
*green, purple, & gold sugar crystals (topping)
*candy pearls(topping)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cover a rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray well with cooking spray. Line square saltine crackers in rows. I used 42. Make sure crackers are touching or as close as possible. Boil 1 1/8 cup of light brown sugar with 1 cup and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter for 3 minutes, stirring. Add 1 tsp of cinnamon, mix. Carefully pour the hot mixture over the crackers and spread evenly with a spatula. Work fast it thickens quickly. Make sure the crackers are still close together. Bake for 5 minutes. While crackers are baking, whisk together 4 cups of powdered sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon, a dash of salt, 6 to 8 tablespoons of hot water, and 1 to 2 tsp of almond extract to make the glaze. Add 1 cup of melted white chocolate chips to the mixture and 1/4 cup of light corn syrup to make it a little easier to spread. Mix until smooth. You want the glaze to be spreadable but not too thin. Warming it in a microwaveable bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds at 50% power then mixing will also help make the glaze easier to pour and spread. Work fast, the glaze will start to stiffen as it cools. After 5 minutes take the crackers out of the oven, and pour the king cake glaze over the crackers on top of the brown sugar mixture, spread the glaze evenly with a spatula. Quickly top with festive Mardi Gras colored sugar crystals(gold, purple, green), and chopped pecans before the glaze hardens. You can also use Mardi Gras colored sprinkles, and candy pearls to decorate. Let cool so the glaze can set. Once it's hardened you can either cut them in squares or break apart. I placed mine in the fridge for a cold, crunchy sweet treat! πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’œPut on those aprons and have some fun in the kitchen.

Note: This is a very sweet treat. You could cut the glaze recipe in half and just drizzle the glaze on top for less sugar.

To make it a Valentine treat, replace the Mardi Gras sugar crystals with pink and red sprinkles/sugar crystals. Use candy hearts for a finishing touch.πŸ’—β€πŸ’•

πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’›Mini Savory Sausage & Onion King Cakes with a Jalapeno Popper toppingπŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’œ

* 1 Box premade Puff Pastry Dough(2 sheets)
* 1 cup Hot Smoked Sausage, chopped
* 1 cup Cajun Style Andouille Smoked Sausage, chopped
* 1/2 small yellow onion, chopped
* 1 cup Italian Shredded Cheese
* Egg wash (1 egg and 1 tablespoon of water)

Topping:
* Spreadable Cream Cheese
* Shredded Cheddar Cheese
* Cooked Bacon, crumbled
* Chives
* Jalapenos, chopped

This recipe makes 6 mini savory King Cakes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Thaw out both sheets of puff pastry dough on the counter. Cook the chopped sausage and onions in a skillet for about 10 minutes. Slightly roll out each thawed sheet of dough with a rolling pin. Using a pizza cutter, cut 3 equal strips per sheet. Totalling 6 strips. In the center of each strip, put a line of the cooked chopped sausage and onions. Top with Italian cheese. Spread egg wash along one long side and one short end of each strip of dough. This will be used to help the dough stick together. Pull the long side of the dough without egg wash over the sausage and cheese then press and seal each strip of dough. Flip each one with the seam facing downward. Make a circle with the stuffed dough, then stick the end without egg wash into the other end that has the egg wash. Press to seal it closed. Place on a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Spread egg wash on top, and make 3 slits on top of each mini king cake. Bake for about 20 minutes. Cooking times may vary. Take the king cakes out of the oven and top each with spreadable cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, cooked bacon pieces, chives, and chopped jalapenos. The combination of the colors of the toppings give the king cakes that festive Mardi Gras look. Place back in the oven for about 2 to 3 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Enjoy!

Breakfast Deviled Eggs with Jalapeno infused Maple Syrup

Deviled Eggs:
*6 boiled eggs
*1/4 cup mayonnaise
*1 tsp mustard of choice
*seasoning/salt/pepper

Toppings:
*cooked breakfast sausage(chopped)
*few slices cooked bacon(cut into 12 peices)
*2 slices buttered toast bread
*shredded cheese

Jalapeno infused Maple Syrup:
*1 cup maple syrup
*1/2 of a whole fresh jalapeno(deseeded)

Cook the breakfast sausage and the bacon, then toast 2 slices of bread to use as the toppings on the eggs. To make the jalapeno infused maple syrup, heat 1 cup of maple syrup with a 1/2 of a fresh jalapeno(deseeded) in a small saucepan on low/medium heat for about 10 minutes. Remove jalapeno when done. Boil 6 large eggs for about 15 minutes. After they are done, remove from heat, and add ice to the pot to stop the cooking. After cooled, peel then rinse. Cut each egg in half, and remove the yolks. Put the yolks in a bowl and smash with a fork. Add 1/4 cup of mayonnaise, 1 tsp of mustard of choice, salt, pepper, and seasoning. Mix until smooth and creamy. Put the egg filling into a piping bag or a ziploc bag(cut corner of ziploc), and fill each egg half. You could also use a spoon to fill the eggs. Cut off the ends of the 2 slices of buttered toast, then cut each into 9 small, even squares. You will only need 12 pieces for the 12 egg halves. Top each egg with cooked breakfast sausage, shredded cheese, a piece of cooked bacon, and a piece of toast bread. Drizzle with jalapeno infused maple syrup. Enjoy!

The Frosted Apron: Design, Create, and Celebrate

My name is Stacey LeBlanc Dempsey and I opened The Frosted Apron in January of 2017 with the desire to share my love for cake decorating with the Acadiana community. My venue offers cake decorating parties for all ages, along with cake, cookie, and cupcake classes. My shop is the perfect space for birthday parties, ladies night out, office outings, bridal/baby showers, field trips, Christmas parties and so much more. I have baked cakes as a hobby for over 10 years and fell in love with the art of cake decorating. I opened my business to give others the opportunity to explore their creative side, while celebrating their special moments in life. I absolutely love what I do, and I believe a beautiful life is created one sweet moment at a time. I look forward to meeting new people every day, and getting the chance to make their birthday, or whatever they are celebrating a memory they won’t forget! Thanks for the support you all have shown me! Let’s put on our aprons and let the fun begin!
