Update 4:30 the lot has reopened if you would like to join us. Thursday July 4th 2024: The Ocean Beach Park Parking lot is full. We will be closing our gates as we cannot accommodate any more cars. If you park in the surrounding streets, we ask that you please be respectful of our neighbors and don't block fire hydrants or driveways. You can walk in our pedestrian gate on Park Street and Ocean Ave by the Mini Golf Course. Please watch your children on this very busy day here.

On Friday night July 5th, our Tribute series continues with A Steely Dan tribute by the Franklin Brothers on the boardwalk stage at 8:00. Brothers Jay and Carl Franklin lead this original horn band from New London, CT. Funky, Rockin', Groovin', and Soulful. Great vocals and awesome arrangements.

On Wednesday evening July 3rd, at 7:00, our Boardwalk Magic continues with The Magic of Derek Whitneck at 7:00 live on the boardwalk stage. For almost 20 years Derek has been entertaining with Magic and Comedy for thousands of satisfied fans around the country. He has dedicated his life to the pursuit of amazing magic effects and witty comedy.
Please consider sharing this one! The Fourth of July is here! We've got some great entertainment this week but want to stress to everyone, especially parents about the importance of safety.
As we start the month, including the July 4th holiday, we'd like to remind you of some good practices to follow regarding aquatics safety. A day at the beach including swimming can be the greatest fun for all ages but can also turn into the biggest disaster if it's not done responsibly. Here are some thoughts: Make sure your children take swimming lessons. Swim only in designated areas where there are lifeguards present. Never swim alone. If you are the parent or guardian, the child's safety is YOUR responsibility. Never trust a child, lifeguard, or any other individual to take it on for you. It's yours. Leave your phone in your bag. Establish rules and boundaries for the kids so you can watch them easier. Don't let the kids play any unsafe games in or near the water, including diving, jumping into the water, holding breath games, etc. Inflatables and other water toys are not life saving devices. Parents and kids digging holes in the sand and building sandcastles, never allow them to dig deep holes or tunnels, especially near water lines (areas where waves come in) and fill in the holes when you are done. Avoid swimsuits in light blue, gray, or green as they can blend with the water and pool surroundings, making it difficult to spot a child. We recommend bright and contrasting colors such as neon yellow, orange, pink, and bright red. Let's all please have a safe and enjoyable summer. We're proud of our lifeguard staff and safety programs and are here to help, but it starts with you. Please watch your kids and consider sharing this important message!

Fireworks!....What a night we have planned for Friday June 28th! At 7:30 PM, The Save Ocean Beach group will have a children's silly hat parade in memory of Mr. Ocean Beach, Tony Pero. Bring your silly hat and marching feet! Kids will receive a treat for taking part in the event. At 8:00, our tribute series continues as we welcome back Amber Ferrari to the boardwalk stage. Amber will entertain us with the sounds of Madonna, Janis Joplin and Pat Benatar, and we'll enjoy our first fireworks show of the season!

On Thursday June 27, come enjoy our country line dancing by Dance Country with Lisa from 7:00-9:00. There is no better place for line dancing than the boardwalk and no better dance leader than Lisa! As a reminder all ages are welcome to join us!

We are beyond excited to tell everyone that our annual Ocean Beach Park Polka Days will be returning to Ocean Beach Park June 19-22. The festival starts on Wednesday night June 19, when Polka Country Musicians takes the boardwalk stage from 7:00-10:00. Let's get this party started! Wednesday night is open to the General Public. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the Polka continues all day at the Picnic Pavilion and then in the Port n' Starboard at night. For information on the festival, check out oceanbeachparkpolkadays.com

Nancy has been up to it again....if you are walking at OBP today, and its a great day for that, keep your eyes open.
I don't lose sleep over much but didn't get any last night. Yes I allowed a catamaran to be on the beach during the winter months by a neighbor who puts up with OBP during the busy season. Somehow a reporter cast that as an evil deed. I also have been known to plow a neighbors driveway, clean the streets and yards surrounding the beach, and host so many nonprofit events. I was quoted as discriminatory in the paper this morning. That is so offensive and hurts me to the core. I live a live of aggressive inclusion. Never been so angry. Thanks for listening
