Today I'm giving all the couples out there my words of wisdom this Wednesday, my top 6 tips for the smoothest and most enjoyable wedding day.
1. Hire a planner or at the very least, a day of coordinator. I can't stress this enough. Having a planner significantly reduces the amount of stress placed on a bride and gives her the opportunity to relax, enjoy, and be present on her wedding day. This can make or break the wedding experience for a couple.
2. Ensure there is beautiful natural light in your getting ready room. This is important for those beautiful getting ready photos you see on my website, all the way from the details to the fun shots with you and your friends to the moment the special people in your life help you to put on your dress or tux.
3. Declutter and have details set aside and readily available for me (with extra blooms from your florist for those detail shots). Decluttering is essential for clean, beautiful photographs.
4. Create breathing room and HARD stop for hair and makeup. There's nothing worse than being rushed. Make sure you have padding in your timeline for each transition, in case something takes a little longer than you might expect.
5. Consider a first look. I never force this on couples. It's a personal decision, but most of my couples find that seeing eachother beforehand without a crowd is really special and emotional, creates a relaxing enviroment for the rest of the day, AND gives you more time to spend with friends and family during cocktail hour
And finally the MOST important 6. Have fun and LET GOOOO!!! of any stress you might feel. This is a beautiful, special and fun day where you are celebrating, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the day and leave everything else to your wedding professionals.
