Greetings new followers! Thanks for your interest in my first ever Gothic Speed Dating event. I’ve been wanting to do this for some time and I’m so excited to see it become a reality. If we haven’t met before, I’m your host, Garnette, a local New Orleans Goth since 2016. Before that I spent a lifetime in New York going to fantastically dark events like The Bank, Batcave, The Red Party and Underworld but, emerged as a Goth in the late eighties in CA Gothing it up at Scream - we called it Death Rock there 😉🦇. I owned a bar for a minute in New Orleans on St. Louis called Bar Mon Cher where I hosted a weekly Goth night called Bats in the Belfry. In 2019 the amazing Bats DJs started a new monthly night at Santos on Decatur called Resurrection and I joined them as a host - Mange and Emily Anne truly have resurrected us all. Before I moved here to New Orleans, I visited every year for this very weekend, Halloween, for 10 years. I was enthralled with the parties and fell madly in love with the city as well as a cute Goth guy or two. Meeting someone who shares your lifestyle, aesthetic, and musical tastes in the gorgeously mysterious backdrop that is New Orleans is intoxicating to say the least. Spending a weekend together entwined in the experience that is Halloween in NOLA is something you never forget. This is my inspiration for Strange Kind of Love.
