Together, these two remarkable women formed a circle of care that enveloped our father and us in love. It was not a single, rigid line of defense, but a living, breathing entity woven from their distinct and essential strengths.

Where one was the anchor, the other was the sail. One provided the foundation, while the other painted the sky. They did not merely take shifts; they built a sanctuary. Their collective strength, each so unique and essential, was a gift beyond measure. And in their selfless partnership—a beautiful, unexpected alliance forged in the crucible of need. We saw the most beautiful reflection of the man they both cared for so deeply once ago. He was the silent center who had, in his own way, inspired such profound devotion, and in their circle of care, we saw his own love reflected upon us all.

As you mark this beautiful turn of the year, I find myself reflecting on the incredible light you bring into my world. You inspire me constantly not with grand gestures, but with the quiet strength of your grace and the profound depth of your wisdom. Your presence is more than a blessing; it is my sanctuary, a steady and radiant force for which I am endlessly grateful.

Tonight, as the candles glow before you, casting a warm light on your smiling face, I hope you feel the immense love that surrounds you. In that hushed, hopeful moment before you make your wish, I send a prayer into the universe that it conspires to pour upon you the same boundless grace, kindness, and joy that you so effortlessly bestow upon everyone fortunate enough to know you.

In Loving Memoriam of Army Staff Sergeant Kevin Perkins Sr.

Sunday, March 20, 1960 – Saturday, September 27, 2025

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

2 Timothy 4:7-8

A public celebration of his life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Charbonnet-Labat-Glapion Funeral Home, located at 1615 St. Philip Street, New Orleans, LA 70116. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., prior to the service. Family, friends, Macy’s employees, representatives from the United States Social Security Administration, Ochsner Medical Centers, New Orleans VA Southeast Louisiana Health Care Hospital / Hospice, and Walgreens are cordially asked to attend.

An intimate interment will follow at a later date, with Staff Sergeant Kevin Perkins Sr. being honored with Full Military Honors.

We express our gratitude for the professional arrangements entrusted to Charbonnet-Labat-Glapion Funeral Home.
