Congratulations to our very own, Jonathan Bateman, who stepped into the interim director role here at Eldora after the unexpected passing of General Manager Jerry Gappens this past May.

Last night, we held our annual end-of-season appreciation party in the newly renovated Eldora Ballroom. Nearly 400 employees and guests were treated to a delicious meal, cold drinks, and some impressive gifts. Our employees are the heart of what makes Eldora Speedway so special. Thank you to each and every person who played a role in our success this season!

A well deserved recognition. Jerry will always hold a special place in our hearts at Eldora Speedway.

A legacy that lives on. 👏

Jerry Gappens served in several facets of the sport, as a sprint car driver, then as an Advertising Specialist and Operations Manager at National Speed Sport News and even an ABC pit reporter at the Indianapolis 500, before heading south as Senior VP of Events and Marketing at Charlotte Motor Speedway, then to the northeast as the General Manager of New Hampshire International Speedway.

In recent years, he became re-integrated with his dirt track racing roots as the General Manager of Gas City I-69 Speedway, and most recently, as the GM at Eldora Speedway since 2022.

Those are his stats, but this man was so much more. His passion for motorsports was only topped by his passion for the people in the sport. It was a common sight to see him greet a racer on his way into the track one minute, then follow up a minute later by welcoming a race fan into the campground before grabbing a broom and sweeping the entry way of the racetrack.

He made you feel special, and what a special gift he was to all of us before his unexpected passing this past May following a medical procedure, leaving a void that is all too difficult to fill, and to comprehend.

Though he is no longer with us, his legacy in the sport lives on, and on Friday night, we recognized him as the 2024 USAC Race Organizer of the Year.

𝙒𝙃𝘼𝙏’𝙎 𝙉𝙀𝙒?
➡ DLM Dream Prelim night stakes have been raised... now $30,000-to-win! 🤑. Number of Feature starters each night increases to 26.

➡ Ohio Sprint Speedweek is back on June 17! A winged and nonwinged doubleheader in a salute to Jack Hewitt. More details to come.

➡ For the first time in event history, the Kings Royal will now pay $200,000 to the victor!

➡ Dirt Late Models will compete in a Twin 25-lap Feature program at the August 31st Baltes Classic, doubling the number of drivers taking home A-Feature payouts!

➡ The World 100 Champion will take home $72,000 as part of Eldora’s 72nd season of racing. The tradition of adding $1,000 to the winner’s payout will stay intact moving forward for this event.

➡ The 4-Crown Nationals with a major format shake-up! More racing, more money on the line, and a smoother Saturday night program on the docket!
1️⃣ Thursday Night Thunder doubleheader for USAC Sprints and Midgets
2️⃣ Friday: High Limit Racing Sprints and Great Lakes Super Sprints plus Silver Crown quals.
3️⃣ Saturday: Championship Night with USAC Midgets, Sprints, Silver Crown, and High Limit. Qualifying races, Dashes and $15,000-to-win Features for all four divisions!

𝙏𝙄𝘾𝙆𝙀𝙏𝙎:
All 2025 events will be offered in same renewal period. Renewal emails will hit patron inboxes by end of day Tuesday, December 10th. The deadline to renew is January 31, 2025.

Eldora’s popular Add & Exchange period for renewing customers will be the week of February 3, 2025.

The public sale for all events will begin on Friday, February 14, at 10 a.m. Eastern.
