চীনা চান্দ্রবর্ষের প্রথম মাসের পূর্ণিমা রাতে ইউয়ানসিয়াও উৎসব উদযাপিত হয়। এই রাতে চীনারা ঘরে ঘরে লন্ঠন টাঙিয়ে রাখেন বলে একে লন্ঠন উৎসব ও বলা হয়। এইদিন প্রতিটি ঘরে এবং বাইরে নানারকম বৈচিত্রময় লন্ঠন দিয়ে উৎসবমুখর পরিবেশ সৃষ্টি করা হয়। আবাল বৃদ্ধ-বনিতা নির্বিশেষে সবাই সারারাত এই লন্ঠন প্রদর্শনী দেখেন। কি যে সুন্দর সেইসব লন্ঠন।
তাই বলছি আমাদের এই হাতে বানানো লন্ঠন আপনার অনুষ্ঠানের সাজসজ্জার অনুষঙ্গ কিন্তু হতেই পারে। সেই আদিকাল থেকেই লন্ঠন সাজসজ্জার ঐতিহ্যের বাহক। ভাবুন তো, জন্মদিন কিংবা গায়ে হলুদে ফুলের পাশাপাশি যদি এমন উজ্জ্বলসব রঙের লন্ঠন ছড়িয়ে থাকে, কেমন স্বপ্নদৃশ্য তৈরি হবে—

মাঝে মাঝে client এর সাধ মিটাতে আমাদের রীতিমতো করতে হয় সাহিত্যচর্চা। সে একেবারে রবী ঠাকুর থেকে হুমায়ুন আহমেদ পর্যন্ত।
এবার এমন এক client এর দেখা মিললো যার ইচ্ছে হলো তার হলুদের ষ্টেজে ঐ গতানুগতিক “গায়ে হলুদ” , “মেহেদী সন্ধ্যা” , “হলুদ সন্ধ্যা” এইসব পুরানো প্রচলিত লাইনগুলো সে চায় না, তার চাই অন্যরকম কিছু।—
কি বিপদ, হলুদের অনুষ্ঠানে এসব ছাড়া কি লিখবো!!!
এরপর শুরু হলো সাহিত্যের অলিগলি হেঁটে বেড়ানো। অবশেষে শব্দগুলো এদিক ওদিক করে ১০/১২টা লাইন দাঁড় করানো গেলো, সেখান থেকে client এর এটা পছন্দ—
এবার এটাকে ব্যাকষ্টেজে হাইলাইট করার পালা।তাই এবার বসে পড়লাম রং তুলি নিয়ে। দেশীয় আলপনার আদলে ষ্টেজে লেখাটাকে ফুটিয়ে তোলার চেষ্টা—

“দর্শণধারী” , “গুণবিচারী” - কোনটা আগে আর কোনটা পরে সে বিবেচনা আপনাদের। এখন ভেবে দেখেন , আপনি বিয়ের জন্য বেশ সুন্দর নকশার অনেক গহনা কিনে আপনার হবু বউয়ের বাড়ী পাঠাবেন। প্রতিটা সেট আলাদা আলাদা বক্সে সুন্দর করে পাঠালেন। সবাই মিলে একটা করে বক্স খুলে এক একটা সেট দেখে খুশীতে ডগোমগো……
কিংবা এমন একটা কিছু তৈরী করলেন যেখানে সবগুলো গহনা সুন্দর করে সাজিয়ে পড়িয়ে বুঝিয়ে দিলেন এক নজরে ঠিক কেমন দেখাবে নববধূকে।
