It’s been a while. Can’t believe I’ve been back in NYC from Japan for a month now.

Still figuring it out as I’m trying to make a transition from busy attending all the pop-ups possible to more wrappings, workshops, and selective pop-ups.

Nothing has been easy, but just keep pushing to move forward one step at a time 😊✨

Furoshiki in the photo is NOT included, however, one 70 cm cotton furoshiki of your choice will be included in the attending fee and is yours to take home after the workshop!

Recently 🌸

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’ve been doing in-person pop-ups almost every weekend.

It is time for me to pause, take a much-needed break from non-stop back-to-back markets, and rebuild my business I started to be a gift-wrapping business but now more of selling earrings at pop-ups.

If we met at my pop-ups more than once, you know I’ve been having a tough time these last few months, and with my beloved cat Lou passing, I’ve made the difficult decision to not do any pop-ups in my best-selling month, May, but focus on me and my future.

Only 5 pop-ups left before my scheduled return in June, I will be more selective and limit the number of the markets I attend, and will try to attend markets on the West Coast as well going forward.

Hi friends 👋 Noticed more new faces here and thought it might be a good time to (re)introduce myself on my birthday month 😊✨

My name is Emi, I'm Chinese grew up in Japan (Tokyo), and am now in my eighth year living in NYC.

I started my Wrapping business as a Certified Gift Wrapping Coordinator in 2022 while also making earrings and small accessories using traditional Japanese ribbons, called Mizuhiki. I don't have a physical store yet, so you’ll likely see me doing pop-ups across the city almost every weekend.

I used to sell Canon’s digital cameras back in high school, 20 years later, I'm here selling my own products and services in the biggest city in the world. If we met in person, you know I'm never pushy and very grateful for every single purchase that you make, the trust you have in me, and your support of my small business means the absolute world to me 🫶✨

Running a business all by myself is not easy, and even though I'm typically a happy/positive/friendly person, I'm just another human being who also has a life besides the things I post on social media.

No pressure to buy anything, but always happy to say hi 😊

No need to be rude for no reason, we all humans have our feelings 😊

And most importantly, this is not a dating profile ☺️

I do pop-ups to sell earrings. Obviously. But besides that, it's really about meeting everyone. Not all of the markets make great sales, but I'm always happy to meet/make new friends and say hi to familiar faces.

Since I spent most of my market days at Japan Village last December, now I’m a familiar face to most of the employees who work on the first floor. I became “friends” with people who work in the building, people who work/live around the neighborhood, buy coffee every day from the cafe in front of my table, and even a guy I see every time I'm there, apparently is a shoplifter 🤷🏻‍♀️

These two beautiful girls are almost half my age, work hard mostly at the cafe in front of my table now are my returning customers. They’re so sweet and thoughtful, remembered my birthday from a brief conversation we had about February birthdays, and brought me a cheerfully decorated box of cakes at the end of the day. The gesture of these girls and all the kind people I met past two days really made my days here worth coming back to regardless of my shop sales.

Lots of changes ahead of this year, but hopefully more opportunities at Japan Village 😊✨
